Up for your consideration is a clean daily rider, number matching1978 Triumph T-140 E. I purchased this bike as a project and built it for myself in the style of the 60s. The motor has a fresh top end with ~ 1,000 miles. The frame is original and unaltered. The forks and front brake are rebuilt 71 Triumph / BSA units, the side covers are original modified steel Triumph battery cover and oil tank. Rear brake is std. Lockheed with a rebuilt master cylinder and new rotor. The tail light is an original 60s Lucas unit. The seat cover is new and the clocks are NOS Smiths, Tires are Dunlap's with ~1,000 miles. The mufflers are from a 64 BSA Lightening and do show veteran status (battery acid stains and typical scuffs, somebody put a dent in the bottom for center stand clearance but it does not readily show)) they function quite well. The bike runs, shifts, stops and handles as it should. The motor pulls very strong with no flat spots. It is very smooth and with relatively low vibration for a British vertical twin. Shifting is positive with no tendency to jump out of gear, neutral can be a bit of a hit or miss to select when stopped thanks to the governments demand to standardize lever placement and the Triumph mickey mouse solution. The ignition has been updated to electronic and has been trouble free. There are no known issues with the bike, but it is 35 years old and responds well to regular maintenance, oil changes and bolt tightening. The original forks, front wheel and Lockheed brake is included. Both have been rebuilt and function as they were designed. The original side covers, air box components, rear fender, taillight and front fender mount are included in the sale should you with to go back to original.
