Vehicle Detail

This car is truly a barn find and has been stored in a high and dry location for many years. I had heard about the car and have been trying to find it for some time. I was told that this was a California car and in original condition with some original factory options. I was lucky enough to acquire the car and my intentions were to restore it to its original condition, but due to health issues I have decided to sell this wonderful car to someone who will have the time and can truly restore it as it was new. The car did come from California as there is an original California Highway Patrol sticker on the left side of the windshield. There is an original oil change sticker on the driver's door and when I was checking out the rear truck area, I found under the original trunk mat a ruler from a Pontiac dealership in California. Also, the condition of the body is absolutely original with no replaced floor pans, fenders, or any other sheet metal on the car. The car has no bondo or rot in any of the metal parts. Everything is original. The car has the following factory options: factory radio, dual outside mirrors, deluxe wheel trim rings and covers, center grill guard and bumper end guards, locking gas cap with key, and heater. Car has what I believe to be the original engine which has 23 bolt head nuts. Engine is not running but does turn over. Still has some gasoline in the tank which needs to be cleaned. Car has been repainted two times. It was painted green and is now black. I believe the original color of the car was a light tan or sand color. Trunk wells in the rear for storing tools still are in original condition with no holes and has the original wood covers. Trunk also has the original trunk mat with the original cardboard side walls. Both vent window and door glasses are original and have the Ford logo and are dated 1-40. The interior of the car is a black and white vinyl which has been redone probably some time when it was in California. Has the original dash and is painted in the original color. There is one ashtray missing and one small piece of chrome by the glovebox. When the car was in California, someone put 2 seat belts on the front seat. Car is also missing one armrest and a door handle. Upper sill plates were chromed in California at some time. Also, they put chrome nuts on the flathead engine and replaced the original horn with a chrome Model A style horn. Running boards are original and solid as a rock, as is the whole car. You would not find a nicer original 40 Ford Convertible to restore than this one. This car is a real sweetheart and I really hate to see her go, but my loss is someone's great gain and I wish you luck in bidding. I have a clear Michigan title in hand. I do not want to ship this car overseas so it is sold only in the USA. I will need a $500 paypal deposit when the auction closes. The car must be picked up and paid for IN CASH within 14 days. If you are not satisfied with your purchase, I will refund all of your money including the $500. If you have any questions you can call me at (810) 989-9866 and ask for Jim. Please call no later than 9:00 p.m. EST. Good luck!On Jun-05-13 at 16:36:01 PDT, seller added the following information:The oil change sticker on the drivers door is from Cardiff, California and the small metal ruler is from Holeman Pontiac, San Jose, California. In the front photo you can see the front bumper is missing. I have the original bumper with the Ford grill bar and the end ears, but one of the bars is missing. I also have some parts from Dennis Carpenter, rear trunk handle, front rubber floor mat, battery cables and upper Rad hoses.
