i am selling my 1971 superbeetle convertible. its orange (clementine) with black top. it has the dual port 1600cc, 4 speed manual. it has 108,165 miles on it as of this posting.( note: i still drive it once a week or so for a few miles.) while the top was replaced several years ago by the previous owner, it does have the original headliner and rear glass. the car is in decent original condition and run goods. it doesnt burn oil just leaks alittle from the pushrod tubes . everything works to drive on the street(lights, horn brakes, turn signals) there is a radio installed but i unhooked it because at the time i planned to replace it with a retrosound type headunit but never got around to it. All i had planned to do was fix what was broken, replace what was missing and just drive and enjoy it. the body is rust free from what i see except for behind drivers seat( see pics and details below) this car was carported by both previous owners and i cover it when ever bad weather is coming in. what i have done: replace the headlight bezels, the tail light lens( the OEs were cracked and i used 73 lens due to my preferring the amber lens), autozone horn, OE replacement gas cap, i have replace the front bumper and brackets, along with the brake light switches. the only thing i have done to the motor is change the oil (30W) and clean the oil bath air cleaner. the guy i got it from told me he changed plugs/ wires and points a year earlier.(2011) what it needs: the rubber scrappers and some window rubber need replacing the pan behind the driver seat needs a patch due to rust. there has been a repair patch done under the battery tray and passenger seat already when i bought it, other than those 2 place there is no rust on the body that i have seen, the head lights work fine but the not the high beams, i couldn't figure that one out. the previous owner slide into the back of another vehicle and there is some damage to the front valance and the lower part of the hood. dents are body related only (see pics). hood opens/closed fine from outside. the convertible top has a seam that is unraveling below the back window. i have glued the loose ends and put tape to keep it from getting worse, and its done well so far. other than that the bug is pretty good shape for a 43 year old vehicle. i have clean title in hand., i have taken on a larger, more expensive project and got to let something go. i will do my very best to answer all questions as quickly and accurately as i can also i can take additional pics on request. low reserve. the car is being sold as is with NO warranty expressed nor implied. a NON REFUNDABLE deposit of $350.00 via paypal is required within 24 hours of winning this auction. the rest of payment is to be paid via paypal, cash or cashiers check ONLY. the final payment is due 7 days after winning this auction unless buyer works out something with me prior to end of auction.
