This 350R was used for Sunday rides to the famous "Alice's restaurant" on Skyline blvd in Woodside California. This is a popular spot for affluent motorcycle enthusiast in the Silicon Valley and Bay Area. The 1985 XL350R is a wonderful little Thumper with two intake and two exhaust valves and dual carburetor's for riding those back country roads of Northern California. The size is ideal as compared to say an XR500 much smaller and very easy to ride with good power and great handling. This is the ideal "attitude adjuster" for relieving stress. Like a cool dirt bike for the street, original not restored metal tank and all. This particular bike is all original with the exception of the motor and in very nice condition. The engine has a fresh top end with a "XR350" new Wiseco forged piston and XR350 crank. The engine has less than 300 miles and runs great. It pulls strong in all gears and is a joy to ride. This 1985 Honda XL 350R is a TRUE SURVIVOR and will always be a collectible classic Cosmetically she is in great shape for being 28 years old the engine has been rebuilt but everything else is as it was in 1985. The metal fuel tank has some minor nicks and dings but paint is original as is all of the original decals. The seat is as close to perfect as you will find. The number plate had a slight crack and was repaired in an over engineered with rivets that adds to the previous senior owners attention to detail. Mechanically the engine is basically new and is a XR spec with a new forged Wiseco piston and XR spec crank shaft, the 4 valves per cylinder are original XL specs. The engine fires up easily many times on the first kick and has smooth power coming from the low end, you can lug around in top gear with ease and roll it on and it will pull smoothly. It is geared pretty low and peaks out at around 65 miles and hour. It is ideal for carving out those canyons with quick low end power. The transmission shifts smooth in all gears and all the suspension is tight. It has a set of new tires that make this little jewel handle like a dream. The front is a Metzler Sahara Enduro mounted on on the original light weight alloy 21 and the rear is a Bridgestone Trail wing on a light weight Honda alloy.
