Vehicle Detail
Hello! I'm sad, but at the same time pleased to offer for sale this 1974 BMW 2002 Turbo tribute. Full restoration in 2010. This is a 1974 square tail car that has been made to look like a 1974 2002 Turbo. The car is currently running an E21 M10 fuel injected engine. I chose this motor because of the extra strength needed to eventually turbocharge the car. I haven't yet done this, but the E21M10 makes a better platform for this than the 2002 M10, and you could. The car has a E21 five speed. Fuchs wheels, an OEM 2002 steering wheel. Turbo flares, badges, stripes. Newly recovered 2002 seats (front and rear). New alu radiator (see pics) MP3 stereo, New coconuts. Momo shift boot and knob. This is a really nice driving car. It whips heads everywhere. I wanted a 2002 Turbo, but given their value, could not think about using one as a daily driver. This car really looks the part and is a blast to drive. No issues, recent passed PA inspection. Everything works. I've been driving it, so it has a bit of normal wear and tear. Slight dent in the driver's door (see one of the pictures), which will pull out without damaging the paint. It really looks great. The vehicle was built by Select Classics in Texas: http://www.dcrasupplychain.tzo.com/MotorCars/ Here are pictures from their site of the car during the build (note that many items you see during the build such as the steering wheel and wheel/tire combo were subsequently upgraded): https://plus.google.com/photos/117137462262838585630/albums/5473507808477145217?banner=pwa https://plus.google.com/photos/117137462262838585630/albums/5547595195855874017?banner=pwa Since delivery to me, I've made several improvements: - New engine mounts - New OEM 2002 interior (the fake recaros in the build pictures are gone - new interior is pristine). - New Cocomats - Fixed all outstanding wiring issues- New blower motor (old one worked, but was noisy) - New brake lines - Upgraded Radiator - HD FM antenna mounted inside windshield - All new roundels (even the one next to the license plate, which was a bear to find). - New Momo shifter, surround, and shifter console (the lip on the old one was breaking apart). All of this serivce, as well as the car's general maintenance has been done by Mike Tillson Motorcars: http://www.tillsonmotorcars.com/ The gallery of pictures included in this listing shows the car TODAY. I'm taking a chance here, but I'm going to sell NO RESERVE, it sells to the highest bidder. Why am I selling? I recently consolidated homes, and now I have 10 cars in my driveway, which my wife thinks is "too much". Be on the lookout for a number of rare and interesting BMWs that I'll be listing, including my 323i/Baur, my E21 320i in almost factory condition, and my 540i M/Sport. When you buy the car, I need a $500 Paypal payment in 24 hours. Balance needs to be sent certified funds within 7 business days, and then I'll fedex you the title and you can make arrangements to pick up the car and drive it home or have it transported. I've bought and sold a dozen or more cars on eBay so I know the drill. I will not arrange transport for you, but I will help with loading into the carrier of your choice, or I will pick you up from the nearest airport or train station if you want to drive the car home. Car is in the Philadelphia suburbs. If you are an INTERNATIONAL bidder - please ask for permission before you bid. Please email me with any questions! On May-25-13 at 21:33:55 PDT, seller added the following information:Folks: A couple of notes. First on the 'rust'. Most sellers would describe this as a rust-free car. I just went and looked and it was hard to find anything. Really a couple of scratches that have surface rust in places like bottom of the door (the size of half a tic-tac. Second: I hard-wired the GPS (a Garmin with lifetime maps), so if you want it, it's yours. If you don't want it, you can just cut the wire. It's on a switched circuit so it goes on-off with the car. Third, something you should know is that someone did a lousy job putting the front spoiler decal on. You won't notice it until you detail the car, but it could have been done better. Finally, the numbers I have in the car are as follows: $15,400 purchased from Select Classics. Over $5,000 in its first visit to my specialist mechanic to tweak things to my specs (the work described above). I'm not expecting to get my $20k back out of the car, but feel good that the owner before you put a documented $20k into it.On May-26-13 at 05:29:32 PDT, seller added the following information:A quick clarification on the steering wheel. This is a part that was unique to the 2002 Turbo. They are, for all practical purposes made of unobtanium. The car just didn't look the part with any other steering wheel, and Select Classics helped me track one down in Germany, and it cost me $500. I doubt you could find one at all now.On May-27-13 at 14:12:45 PDT, seller added the following information:Oh, also forgot to mention: Car comes with a custom-fit Covercraft two tone (grey and black) car cover. Nice cover. Mirror pockets fit perfectly. Custom made for this car.
