Vehicle Detail
2005 Suzuki VL 1500 Intruder LC road bike: V-twin, oil-cooled engine with 7660 miles. Previous owner dropped it at low-speed, but it was put back together by a terrific mechanic with a great sense of humor (see photo of front fender – he covered the damaged front edge with a Harley chrome fender trim piece), but he wasn’t a top notch body guy (you can still see some evidence of the crash on the lower right edge of front fender and left console cover was repainted with a spray can from the hardware store. Front signal light brackets were broken and glued back; there are some minor scratches on the Plexiglas windshield, but do not affect drivability. There is no key for fork lock (will require Suzuki dealer work to replace lock). and tool-kit lock is missing (about a $10 part in hardware or locksmith shop. Extras: Excellent quality full motorcycle cover, owner’s manual, windshield, leather saddlebags, comfy big footrests and Vance & Hines custom exhaust pipes (They are loud!). One, like-new full-face Shoei helmet with carry bag and one hardly used half helmet, both black. Engine oil, filters and shaft drive oil changed recently. Needed to make bike look like brand new again: An afternoon in a decent paint shop (repaint of left side console cover, tiny amount of repair/repaint of lower right corner of front fender), re-glue or replace right front signal light bracket. It's been stored in my barn with the cover on since the summer of 2009. 99% of the chrome and polished aluminum are in like-new condition! Except for noted defects, the bike looks, runs and rides like the day it came off the show room floor. Tires look new and it has new battery – new as of last year.I drove this bike for two summers on weekends and had a stroke. I can’t ride any more. I love this bike and hate to part with it, but reality finally sank in. It needs a good home. The highest bidder is going to have 'bugs in his or her teeth' (from all the smiling as you ride ). I’ve owned lots of bikes including a couple of big Harleys and this Intruder is hands down the strongest, best looking, best designed, most reliable and sweetest ride of them all. I’ll be glad to answer questions from serious bikers. Dave. P.S. Buyer picks up bike.
