1988 was the last year the Scirocco was sold in the United States ! If you have been looking to purchase a 1988 Scirocco then you know how difficult it is to find one, let alone to find a 16 V that is still being driven almost every day ! This car sounds and runs like a Rocket ! It is extremely quick and gets tremendous attention ! I purchased this car about 6 months ago with hopes of doing it up with original parts and selling it for big $$ Foolishly, I didn't realize how difficult it would be to find original parts... I didn't want to Mod it up with Racing seats and aftermarket parts, although it does already have some aftermarket parts. I do not have the time or resources to do this Scirocco up the way it deserves to be done. Hopefully someone out there has the right connections and the patience that I do not posses. Having said that, here are the details provided to me when I purchased the car-** Odometer does not work properly... it over spins,logging in more miles than it actually has..*Within the past 2 years- New O2 sensor, spark plugs, battery, alternator, Front tires, wiper blades, timing belt pulley and assorted vacuum lines. Practically new and crack-free exhaust manifold. This is important because the Scirocco 16V used a different manifold than all the other VW 16V cars, and they are Very hard to find. New stainless muffler and tailpipe. *When rebuilt originally ( I can only estimate, but I would say maybe 50-60K miles since total rebuild)- All engine and transmission seals, gaskets, and bearings. Mildly ported head with European intake cam, new valve springs, timing belt, lightened/ balanced flywheel (stock VW part machined down to 7 lbs. lighter than stock), both fuel pumps, starter, new clutch (heavier duty), urethane front motor mount, all suspension bushings, starter, wheel bearings, reconditioned axles, intake manifold heat insulator, K&N air filter, Euro Sport upper and lower strut braces, auxiliary thermostatic oil cooler (allows engine oil to reach optimal operating temp., but not exceed it), cd player and speakers (radio antenna would need an adapter to be connected for radio to work, did not connect an adapter, so radio does not work). The paint is in good condition ...some minor dings and chips... looks like it might have been repainted at one time. The black rubber moldings were removed, but I believe I have them if someone wanted to put them back on. The interior is in fair/good condition... the dash is cracked, there is a small burn hole on the back seat (looks like from a cigarette), there is a small rip on the driver's side seat and the seat handle on the driver's side seat is broken off. The radio does not work. The car is a blast to drive. It is loud and it is fast and it vibrates ! The vibrations make the rear view mirror shake, making it somewhat difficult to see out of the mirror. If the car is not started every day it will run a bit rough. ** The odometer does not work properly. I think the actual mileage is approx. 160,000-170,000.
