Vehicle Detail

For your consideration is my 1998 Ford F250. It was purchased new in September 1997 when the 1998 models came out. I am the original ower. I just bought a new truck, and I no longer have need for this truck. The motor, transmission, and differential are in excellent condtion. The engine has never needed oil additions between 5000 mile oil changes, and the transmission and differential have not needed additional lubricants. The engine and transmission are dry on the outsides with no evidence of oil seepage. The engine runs flawlessly, and the transmission, likewise, shifts flawlessly. I've never mechanically had any troubles with the engine, transmission or differential. I've probably added about a pint of powersteering fluid in the years that I've owned. Never added any brake fluid, and maybe a quart of antifreeze during the years. The rear brake shoes and drums are less than 2 months old, and just last week I inspected the front semi-metallic pads, and they showed very wear including the new rotors which were replaced about 40K miles ago. The engine control module was replaced about 5 years ago. The alternator is about 2 years old. The battery is 5+ years old. The tires (as seen in the pictures) have about 50K miles on them. They have fair tread. After the original tires were replaced, I've always used 245X75X16 load range "E", because I wanted the peace of mind of using the higher load rated tires. The air conditioning works excellent and begins to cool in a few seconds after starting the engine. Wipers, horns, heater/blower, L & R power mirrors, and radio all work. A while back I was on a business trip and parked the truck at the Dayton airport, and someone decided to breakoff and steal the radio antenna. The left mirror has a crack from top to bottom, but doesn't interfere with visability. The left power window needs the tracks oiled, because you can hear the drag on the electric motor, and the right window is even more sluggish. Since I'm the only one driving the truck and rarely have passengers, I've held off on oiling the window tracks. The only significant dent is under the right brake light. I did that several years ago using the tractor to pull the truck out of snow, then it rolled into the tractor after I stopped. There is a light scratch/crease on the lower part of the driver's door. The tailgate is dented on the top, when I backed too sharply and the trailer tongue jack damaged it. That dent has been there since the truck was about 1 year old. I only have 2 of the original hubcaps. This seems to be Ford's weakness. They're plastic and after a few years, they would fly off. There is a picture of bubbles of rust over the left-rear wheelwell. There is rust at the bottom of the doors, and at the bottom of the tailgate. The headliner is beginning to come loose, and I've considered removing the cloth covering, and leave the foam rubber which looks nice by itself. The steering wheel cover was added because the original covering was beginning to crack. The seats are in excellent condition with little or no staining, and no tears. The seat backs have adjustable positions, and the driver's seat has an adjustable lumbar support. It has an adjustable tilt steering wheel. The center armrest will tilt up to allow a 3rd passenger if needed. The carpet is dirty, but it's a truck! I wanted a rubber floor mat when I bought the truck, but it came with a carpet. The original spare tire was used for a few days until the tire was was being used was repaired. Until this past Friday, I have driven the truck to work every day (50 mile round trip), and it has never failed me. I have confidence in the engine and transmission will continue. It's the small stuff that will need some attention. I've always done my own mechanical work, but I'm getting too old for this stuff - that's why I bought a new truck to finish out what working years I may have remaining. As far as performance goes, I would have bought my new F250 with the same 5.4L engine, but Ford discontinued it in 2010. I've pulled classic cars, and race cars on trailers and small bulldozers with my 24 foot gooseneck trailer with no problems at all. It has pulled heavy trailers several times from the east coast over the mountains back to Dayton, OH to my satisfaction back when I was still restoring old bulldozers several years ago. The pictures show the receiver hitch below the bumper, and the 2 5/16" ball in the bed for the gooseneck. It has a trailer brake controller under the dash which is seen in the picture of the dash. It's been several years since I've pulled a trailer, so the controller, fuses, and wires may need to be checked out before use. Come look at the truck and test drive before buying, there are no warranties expressed or implied - it's a 1998 truck with 180K miles. I have a clear title, and it will be notarized into the buyer's name after the full payment is made. The truck will have to be paid in full before it leaves the farm. If you have any questions about anything that I've missed, please ask.
