Vehicle Detail

Had to list this under "Studebaker" . I couldn't get Ebay to take just "Avanti". If you've wanting a solid, driveable Avanti, with power steering, power disc brakes, ac, power windows and in really good condition at a reasonable price , this is the car for you. This is of course an Avant II, not the ones built by Studebaker but rather a dealer who bought the rights to continue to produce the car after Studebaker went out of business in '64. This car gets attention where ever it goes. People take pictures of it when I park it anywhere. A real eye turner . This is a highly optioned very nice condition 2 owner 1980 Avanti. Sat for a long time under a tree in Illinois. Never in an accident, no cracks but the paint was well worn when I aquired it. The car was stripped down to the base fiberglass then repainted the original British Racing Green. All the old emblems were replaced with all brand new ones. Not a "show" paint but a very good professional paint job. Comes with all the original factory build, sales and work orders and a notorized letter from the first owner. Very good condition camel interior, brand new BF Goodrich Radial TA 215 R70 15 tires. Factory options include Nardi wood steering wheel, factory installed "Avant" logo mobile phone- no it doesn't work, cruise control (works), power windows ( passenger side regulator and motor are brand new), power antenae, power moonroof with a new motor, Blaupunkt am/fm radio, Mag 500 aluminum rims, rear window deicer, electric trunk release, intermitant wipers, reclining seats, tilt steering wheel, a/c,tinted glass, remote control drivers mirror, speaker fader control, fog lights to name a few. 79,000 original miles, starts, runs , drives excellant, freshly rebuilt calipers and pads. Comes with a brand new power steering slave cylinder , the original has a few dropletts showing but is not leaking badly. Solid interior with minimal wear, seats, carpets etc are not torn or ripped, dash pad in very good condition. The original 85 MPH speedometer was switched to a 160 MPH one showing 71K on it.(the original goes with the car). Engine is the original Corvette LT-1 but highly detailed including the original Corvette cast aluminum valve covers but highly polished, matching polished air cleaner and fittings. brand new Edelbroack 1406 carb, brand new HD mini-starter, brand new HEI distributor, new alternator, NOS overflow bottle, NOS washer resevoir, brand new fuel pump and water pump, no leaks, knocks or smoke. Transmission is solid, firm shifts no leaks or slipping. Exhaust system has surface rust but is fully intact and functional, no leaks, mufflers are in good condition. The "bad". The radio plays when it wants to, dash speaker was removed but the kick panel and rear speakers are intact, The windshield has a crack from a stone strike on the passenger side. The bumpers are starting to show through, not badly pitted or rusted but really should be rechromed . The a/c compressor was removed in order to replace the water pump, valve covers etc. it was charged when removed and comes with the car. The hog throughs are long gone. This car has been driven without them for over 20 years with no door sagging or cracks because hog troughs are not structural. After talking to Dan at Nostaglic Motors my understandinmg of the hog throughs is that they are not torques boxes like in a early Mustang but rather a place to attach the roll bar so in a roll over the roll bar would not poke through the floor and for side impact protection. I was going to install a set of "nerf" bars just under the rocker panels and welded to the frame to do this rather then replacing sheet metal that does the same thing but for a lot more money.
