Vehicle Detail
Barn find from the grandson of the original owner. Purchsed new from Joe Romania Chevrolet as stamped on the PROTECTO plate and other documentation. The truck has remained and has been titled in Eugene, OR since 1972. THIIS IS A REAL, FULLY DOCUMENTED, 402 BIG BLOCK / 400 TURBO, SURVIVOR TRUCK. 79K original miles. Stored undercover, it retains original paint, original interior and complete original matching # drive train. This truck has not been repainted, restored or "fixed up". It's all original from the GM plant in 1972. Not even any rattle can under the hood. When is the last time you saw a 402 big block with the original date code/ emissons decal on the valve cover? Or have you ever seen an original window sticker? I've seen a lot of re-pops, but never an original '72 GM Truck window sticker until this one. Tailgate and chrome over brass hubcaps were in storage and are in NEW CONDITION. New take off tailgate and hubcaps from 41 years ago - don't see those every day either, simply amazing. The entire front clip including the grill, bumper, hood, paint, trim, and chrome is near showroom new, unrestored, original condition. Barn storage and camper on the truck since new preserved the cab and front clip as a "time capsule". Little to no wear showing on the 100% original interior including the unique "Custom Deluxe" scrolled vinyl with cloth inserts seat cover, as well as, the floor mat, seat belts, visors, radio, gauge cluster, door panels, arm rests, door latch plates, etc. The Custom Deluxe seat covers are not available after market like the Cheyenne seat covers. It's impossible to find an original Custom Deluxe seat cover in this condition, not to mention the rest of the original mint interior. Coming out of storage, the original CARB was just rebuilt, a new NOS gas tank was installed, and the motor was DYNO tuned with a new HEI upgraded distriubutor. I recently drove this truck and it's incredible. No hesitation when you floor it, tight tight steering, stops on a dime (new brakes), no leaks, very dry and clean underneath. Michlen Radials mounted on original GM Rims with near, NOS, original chrome hubcaps. My Father and I have been 69-72 truck enthusiasts since 1975 when I was driving his '71 Custom Deluxe K-20 in high school. We have owned over fifty 69-72 Chevy and GMC trucks between the two of us, and this one is the best running, driving and handling '72 truck we have ever owned. You can take your hand off the wheel for blocks at a time, and it tracks straight and smooth. When you drive this truck you will be very pleased, it is exceptional! Every component operates properly to include the AM radio, dealer installed spot light, all gauges, all lights inside and out, cigarette lighter, heater, wipers, etc. The dealer installed auxiliary fuel tanks (see window sticker) have been removed. As with any vintage survivor vehicle, I would recommend going through the original radiator, water pump, heater core and thermostat before driving it on a long road trip. My Dad can have this done for you at Metalworks Classic Auto Restoration in Eugene (best in the business) http://www.metalworksclassics.com/ if you want to fly in and drive her home. The truck is stored in Eugene OR. Bid with confidence on this one. High quality survivor trucks of this caliber and documentation rarely come up for sale.
