Vehicle Detail
Item is being relisted, please have funds before bidding. We have up for auction today a clean and only two owner American icon with very low miles. There were only 14,265 Grand Wagoneers built for 1987. This iconic Wagoneer was only driven an average of 6000 miles a year the first 12 years, and only driven less than an average of 500 miles a yr in the last 13 years. This truck is beautiful and ready to go to another new collector. I will be selling all of my Grand Wagoneers in the next few months. The Wagoneer has always been known as the gold standard of the SUV market. These trucks should be considered as investments. Some might wonder why. The answer is only the fortunate ones were able to afford these beautiful pieces of art when new. This particular truck had a $27,803 sticker price when new in 1987 which equates out to $66,897 in 2013 according to the U.S. Dept of Labor and Earnings. There is no other ride like a Grand Wagoneer in the SUV marketplace. While this truck is not a museum piece, it is a beautiful piece for the new collector or Jeep fan. Remember Jeep was the founder of the modern SUV. The Jeep Wagoneer is an iconic sports utility vehicle (SUV) launched by Kaiser-Jeep back in 1963. While many of us think Wrangler when we hear Jeep, the older generations had a very different image. When Jeep, then owned by American Motors, introduced the Cherokee in 1974, they did so as the less expensive, entry-level counterpart to the Wagoneer. In 1984 the Wagoneer became the Grand Wagoneer, to differentiate it from the Wagoneer with the all-new Cherokee body. Unfortunately, for fans of the line, at some point in 1991, the Grand Wagoneer became a luxury item, then indistinguishable from the modern Grand Cherokee, and then finally ceased all together in 1993 when no one wanted the smaller Grand Wagoneer. The Grand Wagoneer enjoyed one of the longest production runs of any vehicle. Ok now to the details of this beauty. Paint on the truck is brand new only three weeks old hasn’t even been buffed yet, it will only look even better after buffing. It was repainted with the original Grenadine Metallic, which is a truly beautiful paint in the sunlight, with all of the metallic shimmering. All the metallic colors are the same as if AMC had mixed the paint. All the wood is original with only a couple small imperfections. There are a lot of Wagoneers on here for sale with redone wood-grain sides, but they are all too yellow or too red. All of the original wood-grain is long gone, so this is your chance to buy one as it came from AMC. This is the last year Jeeps were built by AMC, and later ones were built by the Chrysler Corporation. Along with the paint all the window wipes were replaced and all the stainless trim was polished to a high shine as it was when new. This is a low mileage practically rust free truck. This Wagoneer still retains the factory Marchal 850GT fog lamps, which are getting very hard to find especially in this condition. I have pictures of before repaint if requested. It only had minor clear coat fade and a few nicks. The interior is all original as it was shipped other than speaker replacement. The original carpet is the ultra plush which is no longer available for sale. Lots of aftermarket companies sell stock carpet kits but they aren’t anywhere close to stock. Truck still retains the stock radio and it works, kind of. The Jensen speakers were replaced with 2 way Pioneers. No, this is not a booming stereo but it was never meant to be. The cordovan leather interior is in great shape and all original to the truck. There are no rips or tears in any of the seats. The original plastic protection is still under each leg of the seats. The original headliner is still in the Jeep, most of these have fallen due to these trucks being owned by smokers. As far as under the hood it retains mostly all the factory parts. It has new evap tubes for the factory emissions. Has just had a complete tune-up which includes carburetor rebuild, plugs, wires, cap, rotor, air filter, fuel filter, oil filter, new Valvoline Maxlife 10-30 oil. New Amsoil transmission fluid and new filter. Both differentials have new Amsoil 75-90w severe gear oil. This truck was prepared for a possible long trip. While under the hood the mechanic noticed a small drip from the heater core housing so the heater core was replaced with a brand new one. All vacuum hoses that appeared dry or brittle where changed at the same time. The exhaust on the truck is brand new including the catalytic converter. This one includes all the factory emissions, most of these trucks for sale have had these removed. It’s cheaper to tear out all the old emission stuff but not on this one it was replaced. This truck was never used for a tow vehicle and does not come equipped with tow package. This truck has spent its entire life in Virginia so it has never been exposed to huge amounts of road salt and sand. Truck has four brand new shocks as well as new steering damper. Tires on the truck are brand new with the stickers still on them has less than 2 miles on them. They are Hankook whitewalls with a 60,000 mile tread wear rating. All grease fittings under the truck has been greased. So a list of work done in last two months: Paint, 3 base coat, 4 clear coat Window wipes Tires Hankook WSW zero miles Carb rebuilt Spark plugs, wires, cap, rotor Exhaust from converter back including converter Emission evap tubes Power steering pump Heater core Rear window motor New shocks New steering damper All new fluids, oil, trans, differentials, brake, anti-freeze. All new filters, oil, air, fuel, cabin. This fine example of a Wagoneer is available for viewing and inspection at anytime during the auction. So please do not bid if there are no intentions of picking up. If you have less than 10 positive feedback please ask for permission to bid, I have no problem with new bidders but these auctions are expensive. No I do not have a buy it now price. I will sell for true market value. I have never placed a reserve before but I placed a very low reserve and will not disclose it. Is this a brand new Jeep? NO. Is this a piece of American history? Most definitely. It is 95 percent original and one of the cleanest close to originals left. Ok so now for the must add stuff. A deposit of 1000.00 is required 24 hours after the auction ends. This deposit is subtracted from the winning bid. I have been promised so many times to have it at pick up to only never see or hear from the high bidder except for them to say they are going to pay in full on pick up. This is a very nice truck and deserves a good home. If you want a better truck go to Grandwagoneer.com and look at his trucks. Oh wait Norberts are priced between 50k and 175k. But wait then there is Leon at Wagonmasters.com. His are only currently priced at 30k to 48k. Both guys have nice nice trucks but this is a nice Wagoneer too. Please if any questions feel free to ask by email at Beckken@verizon.net or by phone at 804 305 2128. I know I said I wouldn’t disclose reserve but it is between 5k and 10k. So please ask permission from the husband, wife, girlfriend, boyfriend, and kids. Make a group decision before bidding. Since Hemmings magazine says the Grand Wagoneer is a vehicle you can buy and drive it in nice weather for a few years and turn around and sell it for a profit , look at buying this truck as an investment not just a vehicle. So to answer some of the many questions I've had over the phone to everyone. No this Grand Wagoneer did not start as a rust bucket. This has been a Virginia truck its entire life. Since 99 it has been stored indoors. It had the clear coat lifting like all of these this color do. No this is not a 10k paint job its a 2k paint job. It still needs to be wet sanded and buffed. As far as the floors go they have Zero rust. The frame has no rust. It might have some small flaking but that's it. It was undercoated from day one. Windows, they all go up and down. The back window has all my secret stash of new parts in it. It works with the switch on the dash as well as with the key in the tailgate. Tailgate was rebuilt inside, new regulator and switch and all the latches were oiled for good as new condition. The power door locks work when they want to, a common problem with these Wagoneers. Yes the gas gauge works. Would I trust it to drive to California? Yes but why. If you have a gas credit car without a limit , sure drive it to California. This is a low mileage example that should be transported to preserve the low miles.Could you use this for a daily driver? Hell yes and look cool the hole time. I have never stopped anywhere without getting compliments or a crowd. People ask who restored it, they flip out when I tell them its all original except for paint. Some eBayer's have asked are there any problems. The only thing I know it needs is a drivers side vent glass lever, re-chroming of the roof rack crossbars, and a new radio but don't throw the original one away. OK the reason for sale is I am going into a new business venture and I need the cash plus my wife said please we have 6 others. Here's a link to the federal governments vehicle history report. Its much cheaper only 6.99 per car to use this report and always more accurate. https://www.instavin.com/viewReport.php?r=8c8e1ca9ce0758bff81eb92224a2a09e609794ac
