Vehicle Detail
This car was purchased on Ebay in 2003. Since that time I have worked to bring the car back to a semblance of it's former beauty. I began with the brakes and suspension "if you can't stop and steer no reason going fast". The brake systems including the pipes, masters, calipers, cylinders, rotors and drums were rebuilt or replaced. The suspension was removed, cleaned and painted all new suspension bushings installed front and rear to include tie rod ends and ball joints and steering gaiters. The car sits on TR6 wheels with generic Triumph center decals. I then moved to the engine. The engine started but the carbs were throwing gas. The carbs ZS175's were rebuilt and the engine restarted...Rod-Knock. ughhh. The engine removed and dismantled. The crank was turned .10 and .10 the rear scroll seal ground and polished to take the lip seal conversion. The cylinder head was fluxed, decked and rebuilt with hardened valve seats and new valves and guides. The engine was tanked and new cam bearings installed. The rods fitted with new 87mm Mahle pistons. Rocker arm rebuilt with new bushes. The liners were installed with the correct Hylomar sealer on the fo8 gaskets. New timing gear and gasket set brought the engine back togeather. The ZS carbs were changed it now has SU H6 carbs. The engine has big compression so much that the lucas starter would barely turn it over...New Gear Reduction starter installed spins the motor like a top. New clutch, clutch master and slave. Spin on oil filter. The car runs great. Now to the looks. New inner and outer rockers and new floors. Throughout the rest of the car if it was rusted it was cut out and new steel welded in. The body is strait and solid. The car is painted dark metalic green "I know not original I don't care for BRG". Their are some minor paint dings as the car has been driven for five years on sunny days only never seen rain. The interior is Gray Vynil heavy grain looks like leather. Brand new top in the last month. All of the electrical system has been renewed with after market switches all original switches go with the sale. The generator was replaced with a delco alternator per Dan Masters instructions for this upgrade. The headlights are on relay's hidden under a lucas regulator cover with fabricated bail wire. Guages- all guages work the black closing plate inside of the tach and speedo were deleted and blue led's light the guages. The amp guage was replaced with a volt guage there are photos here with the red needle guage this has been replaced with one that looks closer to original and a white needle. Amp guage does nothing with the alternator. All four of the small gauges have a small relief cut into the base of the gauge face to allow more light onto the gauge faces- unnoticable until illuminated. Blue led's light the gauges and are very bright the dimmer is also aftermarket. I will include an original amp gauge and the closing plates for the speedo and tach in the sale. The gauge mods can be returned to orginal with minimal effort. The carpet was installed with edge bindings and original style under-felt. New dash and crash pads. New hood stick strapping. The hoodsticks were stripped and repainted black. All weatherstripping replaced after paint very clean. The rally lights are set as fogs and are switched in place of the mechanical window washer. The wiper switch is a double throw switch first positon wipers second position is an aftermarket washer pump. The wiper motor restored and painted wrinkle finish wheel boxes replaced and new finishers for the wiper mounts. The interior panels, seats and hoodstick covers are custom sewn and look stunning. The bumpers are deleted to mimic the works racer style. Obviously this car is not for the purist. Even the purist will have to appreciate the modifications that were done are solely for better fuctionality. Nothing modified on this car prevents returning the car to original form. I sell this car with a heavy heart but a 65 solid axel a very early 62 short bubble and a 58 3a are calling me to move on. I start the bidding well below the value of the car. I regularly drive this car without a cell phone because I know it's reliable. This car is 50 years old. Buyer should be aware that these cars require routine maintenance and will from time to time need service or repair. All major components are new or rebuilt and should perform well for years to come however the vehicle is sold as is without warranty or any garantee of serviceabilty after the sale.
