Vehicle Detail
For sale is a beautiful, vintage 1972 Honda CB500 Four, UK model (I think it was imported into the US sometime during the 1980s). The paint is all original (orange and black) and looks incredible in the sunlight. This bike had been sitting indoors for many years until I got last summer and completed a soft restoration of it. Here are the details of the work done to date: 1. installed new tires & tubes 2. new battery (on trickle charger all winter) 3. new air filter 4. new fork gators 5. new seat cover 6. rebuilt and rebalanced all four carbs 7. cleaned and polished forks, engine covers, wheels, etc. 8. new tachometer (new old stock) 9. new spark plugs and replaced ignition coils/wires 10. new handlebar grips 11. new throttle cables 12. new clutch cable 13. timing chain adjusted 14. new oil and oil filter 15. new air intake boots 16. replaced various gaskets/seals 17. new left-hand control The bike is nearly 100% stock except for the rear suspension, a pair of period-correct and very expensive Koni high performance shocks (lowered). I've had several offers for the original exhaust (not mint, but close) and those Koni shocks from restoration mechanics here in the NYC area. Apparently they are both rare and highly desirable in this condition, but it would be a sin to part out such a nice, complete vintage Honda. This bike could be a fun daily rider as is or a great project for someone looking for a restoration project (wouldn't take much work to get this one to showroom condition). Now the bad - I believe the bike needs a new stator - they are obtainable on ebay (there are at least two currently for sale now on ebay for around $99 each) and relatively easy to install. I would do it myself but I just don't have the time any more for bike projects, sadly. That's all I can think of to say at this point so please feel free to write about any specific questions. I know it goes without saying, but this is a private sale of a used vehicle and as such is being sold as is, without warranty or guarantee. I am not able to pack or ship the bike, but I will be happy to coordinate pick-up with a shipper of your designation. Payment terms: $200 is required via paypal within 48 hours of auction close. You are welcome to pay the balance via PayPal only if you are also willing to pay the 4% transaction fee as well (i.e. balance X 1.04 = final purchase price). Otherwise, cash is preferred upon pick-up. If you wish to pay by certified check, that is also possible, but be aware that you will have to wait 15-21 business days for the check to clear both banks before you will be allowed to take posession of the bike. Clear title in hand. Thank you and happy bidding.
