Vehicle Detail

This 1971 Camaro has an interesting story. In 1971 the workers at the assembly plant in Norwood went on strike for 90 days. According to the VIN and build date, this car was started before the strike began, sat on the line during the 90 days and then was completed after assembly resumed. This is a base model, not a Z28, SS or RS. It is an original V8/4 speed, non a/c, manual (non tilt) steering and manual brakes (disc front), 3:08 non posi rear. The original color was Placer Gold (Papa Johns color) with a tan interior. It has no engine/trans. The 4 speed console and rear wheels & tires in the pics went back to the previous owner but I have a set of plain steel wheels and tires on it now. Someone had media blasted this car and didn't put any sealer or primer on it so it has surface rust. It has the typical rust that these cars have but nothing that can't be fixed. I took all of the interior out so I could start fixing the rust. The brake/clutch pedal, most of the clutch linkage and the trans crossmember is there. The windshield and rear window is out and both are good with no cracks. The side glass is good and still in the doors. All of the wiring is there but not in the car. The front bumper is off and the gas tank is out and are included. The front bumper, hood and front seats are from a 1972 SS. The previous owner bought the car without a steering box so he installed a power steering box so he could connect the steering column to move the car around. Please email for a link to 138 pics. I took the pics right after I pulled the windshield, rear window and carpet out so the pics look worse than it really is.
