So what's so fascinating about the "R"? Beyond the visual aesthetics which we'll get into later, Porsche very carefully designed the Cayman R to be the ultimate Porsche and at a price point that can not be matched, not even by their own 911! The "R" model is a lightweight version of the Cayman S and with a 10 horsepower bump over its little brother the "S" model! Also keep in mind that this car has a whopping 55 horsepower over a standard Cayman. That may not sound like that big of a deal but the performance difference is staggering when you couple the car being on a diet by the loss of several hundred pounds and the added juice to the rear wheels. How much so? Magazine editors have exploited a massive half of a second difference in 0-60 with the PDK equipped Cayman R over a Cayman S! In fact, Car and Driver got their test car to run 0-60 times in the 4.3 second range, and anyone that knows acceleration times will be blown away by the quickness of the Cayman R. Ironically, even though this car is a strong runner from a stop, its bread and butter is in handling. The Cayman R is being described as the working mans GT3 with track performance that rivals any 911 aside from the GT3 version! Nearly anyone that has tested all of the Porsche cars will agree, that Porsche was careful in limiting the horsepower. The Cayman R is so light and nimble that with a bit more horsepower it would dethrone the 911 and may drastically affect sales of the more expensive model. Regardless of what review you opt to read, the Cayman R is a blistering hit amongst anyone that has had the opportunity of being blessed with a driving it... The exterior of this 2012 Porsche Cayman R is finished off in a gorgeous Carrara White Exterior paint. Sporting a look that is reminiscent of what an exotic should look like, Porsche made the "R" model stand out from the crowd in a dominant way. For starters the "R" features a set of lightweight 19" wheels that are painted black which alone are good for a 90 pound weight savings plus some awesome looks! Further complementing the car and showing the world its high class presedent over the other models are the Cayman R distinctive logos in black, black Porsche door logo/striping plus black air intake vent covers with black exhaust tips, black mirrors and an Aerokit front fascia & black rear fixed spoiler. If you are still scratching your head as to something being different it will probably be from the 0.8" lowered ride height which adds to its stunning looks and also to its ability to perform at a high level. Conditionally this car commands respect in all regards. It has never been tracked and it is very easy to tell if a car has or hasn't been. Wheel wells get chipped up and the windshield will have a million pits or chips on it and so will the front of the car. The condition of this car couldn't be further from that. In fact, finding a chip on this car will be a tall task and in no way shape or form can you fault this car and with only 5k miles you will have a car that is fully in line with what a like new car should be in. We carefully inspected the car for any signs of prior paint work, dents, dings and or scratches and couldn't find anything of the sort. The paint has a flawless like new luster to it and we could not find anything to mention whatsoever in terms of wear & tear. The condition is stunning! There are no scuffs on the wheels and the tires have normal wear for a 5k mile car, no hot spots from being raced or tracked! All history reports are perfect and the Carfax Vehicle History Report has no reported issues. On the inside of this stunning 2012 Porsche Cayman R you'll also have some welcomed color options and in color with the Black Leather flushing the cabin in luxury. The center of the dash has a strip of trim in Carrara White that matches the exterior in breath taking fashion with "Cayman R" being a stamp of approval on it along with a matching center console that is also delicately painted to match as well. The steering wheel is in leather with aluminum accents on it as well as on the PDK paddles, gearshift lever and instrument cluster surrounds. Nothing screams the word race more than the color red. You'll notice that the GT3 style door pulls are in red as are the seat belts which really make the car pop with excitement. A few things to keep in mind are that the R cars do not come with a radio and A/C standard. This car is equipped with both along with Sport Seats that are optionally Heated along with a pleasant list of other goodies that you see mentioned above. Conditionally the interior is extremely nice just like the exterior, also take not that this is a Las Vegas one-owner and non-smokers car and there simply no excuses with it anywhere. In every aspect and on every surface, this car is extremely clean with no stories to tell. This car isn't new, however for someone understanding of what a first class pre-owned car is will be extremely impressed with what is delivered to them! Describing this car as "used" really doesn't do it justice. If you demand the best kept car that your hard earned money can buy then this is it! Driving the Cayman R with the optional PDK transmission is where the appeal of the car is centered around. Any and every performance test in the world shows that the PDK shifts faster than any professional driver could even dream about.
