PHOTOBUCKET LINKE TO OVER 100 PHOTOS OF THE CAR. PLEASE REVIEW AND READ MY DESCRIPTION OF THE CAR.http://s177.photobucket.com/user/photon07/library/#/user/photon07/library/1970%20Charger?page=1&_suid=136469240079209463305826802864 I have up for sale my 1970 dodge charger. I have owned it for 4 years and have come to the point where I need to let it go and focus on one or two cars. If you are looking for a real solid driver and something you can take your family or friends for a cruise, this is your car. I take my wife and 5 year old for drives and get several thumbs up as we pass through town. This is not a show car but is complete runs well and has been taken care of. The car has a 383 4bl in the car. I believe it to be the original motor. It does have the factory AC still in the car. I have never attempted to work on that. I had a transmission rebuilt by a local mopar mechanic from Schram Dodge in Manhattan, KS in May of 2011. The transmission only has about 700 miles on it since the rebuild. The transmission was also installed at the dodge dealership. I recently added a new electric choke edelbrock carb and aluminum intake. I will try to describe the car in the following paragraphs. INTERIOR When I purchased the car it had Velvet door pads and panels. I replaced the pads and panels with the correct 70 charger model. The seats are in nice shape. I believe they came out of a 68 B-body mopar. The carpet is new and is actually for a 4speed car. The car does have a non factory sunroof. That was done years ago. The headliner is still the velvet material from the previous restoration of the car. There is a half dollar size hole above the passenger side sun visor in the headliner. It is hidden when the sun visor is up. The doors open and close smooth with no sag in the doors. The car is a factory automatic on the column. The speedometer and alternator gauge work on the factory cluster. The clock/oil pressure/temp gauges do not work on the dash. An aftermarket oil pressure/temp gauge have been installed under the ash tray. For what ever reason a bypass to start the car has been installed under the dash to the left of the column. You turn the key to the on position and push the button and that has a relay to the starter. I liked it because I thought it was a good theft prevention. The drivers side window rolls down easy with the door open and a little hard with the door closed. The mirrors on the door are mopar mirrors but not correct for a 70 charger. The headlights/brakelights/taillights all work. The blinkers come on but do not blink. I will try and resolve this issue before the sale is complete. The after market radio does not work in the car. BODY The front grille and bumper are in excellent condition. The grille has no cracks and no broken fins. The front valance is not beat up like most. The car was restored to its current condition several years ago and does have body filler that is showing cracks and wear. The clear coat on the car is peeling off in various areas. The hood and fender are showing signs of old body filler. The passenger side fender behind the front wheel will need a patch panel. This is a typical area of rust for these cars. The driver side fender is in good shape. The front frame rails are in nice shape from the front of the car to where they T off under the floor pans. They are real nice where the torsion bars hook into the frame rails There might need to be a little repair to where they T off opposite the torsion bars on the passenger side. . However this area does not affect the support structure in that area. I will include photos of this in the photobucket link. The lower door on the pass side is showing a little bubbling. The rear quarters are show some bubbles above the wheels. The trunk pan looks very nice. The rear quarter behind the wheels look real nice as well as the trunk pan extensions behind this area. They are not eaten up like most old mopars in this area. The floor pans from the under side of the car look good minus a spot on the drivers side close to the transmission tunnel. The rear frame rails are real nice and solid. All glass is in real nice shape. Side windows have tinting on them. It could easily be removed. The back glass has a mural of the car etched into it. Kind of hard to see out of. I was going to replace it when I replaced the dutchmans panel between the back glass and trunk lid. I just never got to it. The dutchmans panel has cracked body filler in it. I do have a back glass for the car and would sell the buyer separately from the sale of the car. The paint was done years ago and has some dings and nicks here and there. The clear coat in places is coming off. Please look at the pictures to get a good evaluation of the paint. The paint is not bad. I just don’t want you to think it is show car quality. ENGINE/DRIVE LINE The engine is real strong running . The car set parked before I purchased it. I took the car for a drive and it overheated on me. I replaced the radiator, water pump, thermostat, and flushed the motor as well as had the top half of the motor off. ( The heads were checked at a local machine show and had no cracks) I did take the car to the local radiator shop and had the entire system flushed. When the heads were off the engine looked to be in good shape. It ended up that the radiator was junk and the spring in the lower radiator hose was gone. Every time the gas pedal was depressed the lower radiator hose would collapse and stop the circulation of coolant through the system The car has a 195 degree thermostat. The engine temp was tested with the digital temp light and it read out at 193 after being driven. I had a transmission rebuilt with a nice shift kit installed. The rear end is a non posi. The brakes have been gone through with new hoses/shoes/wheel cylinders/etc…. The car does drive straight and true when you take your hands off the wheel and does not pull you to the right or left. The WHEELS AND TIRES IN MOST OF THE PICTURES ARE NOT INCLUDED IN THE SALE. I have a similar set of 14 inch 10 spoke vector wheels that will go with the car. The tires on these wheels do hold air but will need to be replaced sooner than later. I would drive the car locally on these tires, but not a big highway trip. I have included a photo of one of the wheels. FENDER TAG/VIN NEW PARTS ON CAR Brakes, Water pump, Radiator, Transmission, Voltage Regulator, Alternator, Battery cables, Radiator hoses, Pulley Belts, Intake manifold gasket, Carb spacer, Thermostat, Battery, Flex fan, Fan Shroud, Radiator cap, Fuel Filter, Fuel hose, Mechanical fuel pump, Ignition wire set, Spark plugs, Distributor cap, Distributor rotor, Contact set, Condenser, Carpet, carb, aluminum intake. I am sure there are a few other new parts, this is just what I have receipts for. FINAL THOUGHTS Overall a pretty straight dependable car. If you are looking for a nice driver. This car would be a great car to drive now and fully restore later on. It is a 42 year old car, so fully study the photos and ask any questions in advance. This car does have rust and body filler. I am trying to be as open and honest about the car as I can through a 100 plus photos and a thorough description. I have enjoyed the car and hate to see it go. But the fact is I just don’t drive it too much with all the other cars I have. Why spend a lot of time/money on a project car that is missing half the parts. This one will put you miles ahead of some project car. You just insert the key and go. I have done my best to describe the car. I have included multiple photos of the car in the photobucket link. I will try to get a video posted of the car running. Feel free to contact me with any questions or if you would like to see the car in person. Thank you and good lucKOn Apr-04-13 at 17:11:44 PDT, seller added the following information: Fender Tag InfoR11 ENDEF8 A73 B51 J25 M21 M31EF8 C2F8 EF8 A16 102607E63 D32 XH29 NOG XXXXXX
