Vehicle Detail
1970 CORVETTE CONVERTIBLE 1 I am a retired farmer that once was a Chevrolet parts manager back in the day. I love old cars so I buy and sell a few Corvettes a year. I only buy cars I would want to own myself and that means they have to meet my high standards. I do have a dealer's license and most are sold on Ebay. I have 100% feed back on over 40 cars. 2 I will tell the details of this car as we go through the 89 pictures. If you are looking for a great car, the wait on the pictures is worth the time it takes to load. 3 THIS L46 350 HORSE 4 SPEED POWER STEERING AND BRAKES CAR IS A BEAUTIFUL MONZA RED CORRECT 974 PAINT CODE WITH STANDARD BLACK INTERIOR. THIS IS A DREAM CAR WITH MATCHING NUMBERS. THE DATE CODES AND TRIM CODE NUMBERS VERIFY AND DOCUMENT. IT WAS A CALIFORNIA CAR AND HAS A RUST FREE FRAME. 4 I take my pictures in flourescent lighting as well in full sun and shaded areas so you see the car in all light scenarios. That way you see the car as it really looks. My pictures are just as they come out of the camera and not ran through any type of photo enhancement program like photoshop. I also put a lot of shots of areas that sometimes are not shown in close ups. I will also go into great detail with the description and tell the condition as I see it. 5 6 EVERYTHING ON THIS CAR WORKS AS IT SHOULD WITH THE EXCEPTION OF THE CLOCK AND SOME OF FIBEROPTICS IN THE CONSOLE. THE WIPERS AND HEADLIGHT WORK JUST AS THEY SHOULD AND ALL VACUUM WORKS GREAT. 7 The car does have the positraction rear end. 8 All of the chrome is very good as well as the stainless has a great shine. The car was painted four years ago and was driven very little. It did have a few pecks down low and I had it professionally touched up. I LIKE THE COLOR AND THE PAINT HAS A GREAT SHINE AND WOULD DO GREAT AT CRUISE NIGHTS OR LOCAL CAR SHOWS. 9 10 The top looks very presentable and fits good. It does have one small place that has been repaired. 11 The emblems and chrome look great and the paint really mirrors the tree limb reflection. The trim lines are nice and the fit is nice on the headlight doors. 12 13 14 15 DOORS AND WIPER DOORS ALL WORK GREAT. 16 17 The frame is very good and I have several pictures of the undercarriage at the end of this listing. 18 The trim lines are nice and the car looks to be all original with things in thier proper place. 19 The tires are like new and the wheels are nice. the rocker stainless is very good too. 20 21 22 23 25 26 The alarm lock is not centered 27 BUMPERS ARE VERY GOOD AS WELL AS TAIL LIGHTS AN EXHAUST TIPS. 28 29 30 31 32 The GM strike of 1969 caused the '69 model car producion to keep making corvettes from August to the end of Dectember. GM normally would have started the 1970 production in August of '69 so the 1970 models would be on dealers lots in late September of 1969. The strike caused the 1970 Corvettes to be the lowest production ever with only 17,316 made. 33 VIN # LAST SIX MATCH THE A PILLAR POST AND THE TITLE VO709CTH = V for 350 cu in 07 =July 09 = 9th day and CTH = 350 hp with 4 speed quadrajet THE 70S IS 1970 S IS ST LOUIS THEN THE LAST 6 IS THE PRODUCTION NUMBER IT WAS PRODUCED IN JULY AND WAS CLOSE TO THE END OF ALL 1970 PRODUCED. THIS WAS A LOW PRODUCTION YEAR, BECAUSE OF THE GM STRIKE OF 1969 SO 69's WERE MADE UP TO THE END OF DECEMBER. THE FIRST 1970 VETTE WAS MADE IN JANUARY INSTEAD OF AUGUST OF 69 WHICH WAS THE NORM. SOME THINK THIS IS ONE REASON TO COLLECT 1970 CARS BECAUSE ONLY 17,315 WERE PRODUCED COMPARED TO 38,762 1969 MODELS. 34 ALL FOUR LOCATIONS OF NUMBERS AND DATES MATCH AS THEY SHOULD WITH NCRS guide book. 35 THE G 30 is the date of production and the G= JULY the 30th day 36 Block casting number is 3970010. That is the correct casting number. 37 G 8 0. I used two pictures to show this date code, because it is so hard to get a good picture. The G 8 0= 7TH month July the 8th day and the 0= 1970 these dates verify the stamp on the block and the date code on the trim tag pictured in the door jam. The casting number of the block is correct and is well with in the time frame used by NCRS judging guide lines. These pictures are very hard to get off of the rear of the block and so close to the firewall. 38 The VIN number is stamped in the trans and the last 6 are 417078 just as they should be. These number pictures are hard to get to with the camera an the trans still in the car. 39 40 If you have questions or you want to make me a reasonable offer just give me a call. If we agree on a price, I can add a buy it now an stay in Ebay to protect you as a buyer. I have set the reserve at a fair price for this car. I can be reached between 8AM and 7PM CENTRAL TIME at 870 930 6104. 41 42 The guages look nice and everything works except the clock. The radio does work, but like all vettes of this era it is not very loud and the reception is not very good. Most are switched out for aftermarket models. This car is still in original appearance as it came from the factory. 43 Tach, speedometer and all gauges work except the clock. 44 More interior pictures coming and the doors open and shut smooth and easy as they should. The windows operate as they should with easy. 45 46 47 All of the weather stripping is very nice and notice the rear interior light works. 48 The transmission shifts great and the linkage is nice and tight with the reverse lock works as it should. This car drives with easy and has no hidden problems. It is a very good car and drive s like a dream. 49 All of the interior looks very good. The passenger door does have a flaw in it. 50 51 Dash is very nice. The carpet is nice too. 52 The sears operate just as they should with all releases working with ease. 53 All doors open and shut nice and easy just as they should. No slamming the door or any dragging when opening. 54 55 DOOR JAMS ARE NICE AND NEAT. 56 57 58 59 The interior lights as they should and they are all in operation. 60 61 62 63 64 65 66 67 68 You can see where the hard top sat, but it is not bad like alot I have seen. 69 72 71 72 THE LOUVER SHOWS THE CHROME THAT IS PAINTED OVER ON SOME CARS. THEY LOOK AS THEY SHOULD. 73 \ 74 75 76 77 78 I hope I have shown all of the car but if you have any questions, please call me 8 am to 7 PM CENTRAL TIME 870 930 6104. I will walk around the car and answer any questions you may have. 79 80 81 THIS FRAME IS VERY NICE WITH NO RUST IN ANY OF THE PLACES THAT SHOW RUST FIRST SUCH AS THE REAR WHEEL KICK UP AREA. 82 83 THIS CAR WAS CHECKED OVER AND WE FOUND EVERYTHING TO BE IN GREAT SHAPE AND IN NEED OF NOTHING. THE BLACK WAS TOUCHED UP AND NOTHING AND NOTHING ELSE. 84 The drive shafts are in great shape and the rear spring has been changed at some point. 85 A frame is in great shape and the drive links are tight. The idle arms and draglinks an much more were replaced when it was restored. 86 87 THE CAR LOOKS GOOD DOWN LOW. 88 I did not drop the spare tire carrier but I feel sure the rear end is original to the car. both wheels turn the same way and it does have a spare and the jack and wheel wrench are in their proper place. 89 90 The car scheduled to be serviced and will be ready to go with new oil and filter. The car will be greased and the fluids checked. THANK YOU FOR LOOKING!
