Vehicle Detail
This 1974 Honda CL 360 scrambler is a genuine survivor. It has only 3760 actual miles and could easily pass for 760 miles given its truly amazing condition. If you are looking for a bike to turn into a cafe racer, or give to your kid, or just a daily driver, you should probably keep on looking. This Honda should be bought by a collector that will continue to give it the respect and care she deserves and preserve it as the piece of motorcycle history that it is. I purchased the scrambler from the original owner's family on May 13, 2004. They purchased it new on March 4th, 1974 from Minnig Cycle Center Inc. in Greeley Colorado. The Honda was always stored in the garage and never abused by the original adult owners. It was street driven only and never used off road. They rode the bike very little and when they finally stopped riding it, they drained the gas, put oil in the cylinders and gas tank, and covered it in the garage. When I found the Honda I was immediately impressed by its condition. It was completely original and unmolested and had never been owned by kids or taken apart as so many of these bikes had been. I bought the CL and had planned on cleaning the carbs and putting in a new battery and then having a cool bike that I could ride occasionally and show at the local motorcycle meets. Well, nine years later I still have not found the time to work on her and I don't foresee having any more spare time in the near future so I have decided maybe it is time to sell it to someone who does. This Honda is original right down to its Bridgestone tires. As you would expect, the tires have some age cracks in them but are still in remarkably good shape. The cables and rubber pieces of the bike are still like new as is the original Muscat metallic green paint. There is a tiny chip on the right side of the tank that is visible in the photos. The inside of the tank has some light surface rust and that is the only rust on the bike. The chrome is the nicest original chrome I have ever seen with no rust or pitting. The exhaust and mufflers are also original and are like new with no blueing or pitting. The original seat is still soft and has no rips or tears or fading. As I mentioned, you will need to clean the carbs and put in a new battery before riding the bike. The Honda ran fine when stored and has good compression and spark now. The transmission goes through all six gears smoothly and when you look down the oil fill hole, the inside of the motor looks brand new. I hooked up a battery from another bike that I have and the electric starter works as it should. The brakes and clutch all work smoothly and return as they ought to and there are no oil leaks. I have been riding and working on motorcycles since 1967 and there is absolutely no doubt in my mind that the Honda will run as new once you clean out the carbs and replace the battery. My scrambler is located in Payson, Arizona (zip 85541) which is about 75 miles northeast of metro Phoenix. This is the first time I have ever advertised the bike and I do not have it advertised locally. I do reserve the right to end the auction early if bidding is sluggish so please do not wait until the last minute to bid to avoid the disappointment of finding the auction closed. I will help in any way I can in getting the Honda shipped to you. For example, I know a shipper who will transport it to Southern California for approximately $200 if he can combine it with another load going that way. Finally, although I have done my best to accurately describe the Honda, it is, of course, sold as is without any warranty. The pictures accurately show the bike and any flaws that can not be seen are therefore very minor. This CL 360 will make a proud addition to anyone's collection. Honda scramblers are becoming harder to find and ones of this caliber are sure to continue to appreciate in value. Please feel free to email or call me (928-468-7060) with any questions you may have. I can usually be reached most afternoons and evenings. Thanks for looking!
