Vehicle Detail

1948 CJ2A More Pictures available upon request..Ask all questions - will do my best to answer them:) Jeep is being sold with a Bill of Sale only. No title is available (this vehicle pre-dates titles). No ID tags are present on the dash/firewall. It is possible, that there may be, a VIN stamp under the frame boxing on the front, left upper frame horn (I am not willing to cut into the boxing to check). Several ways to register this vehicle, please do your research and check with your local motor vehicle. Actual mileage is unknown, but Ebay requires a number in that field - last two numbers on the odometer are not legible. Purchased her about 2 years ago. Was with the PO since the early 90s – An old skooler, who had a few early CJs - was used as a plow vehicle for his driveway, stored in his barn. He passed away, sat for a year and then wouldn’t start. Got it home, drained the fuel, ordered up a rebuilt carb, electronic fuel pump, inline filter and pressure regulator – fired right up. Found the ignition to be a bit taxing on the 12v system (6v starter), so I ordered up a floor switch, added some new battery cables and cleaned all connectors and the ground contacts. No more drain/draw, fires up after sitting for a month – all better. Has not seen the road, but has been driven in endless circles and circles in the backyard, HI/LO.. 2wd, 4wd – through the gears with no problem. In need of some body work, floors and detail work. Frame is straight and solid – boxed forward section for the plow hardware. Plow hydraulics work great – freshly rebuilt, haven’t been used since rebuild. PTO winch is complete from driveline to cable. Frame/chassis are strong and clean - the drivetrain is good.. engine, transimission, transfer case shift as they should. no excessive leaking or odd noises. fires right up, warms up a bit slow.. then idles nice. The steering feels nice and tight/responsive. Brakes need attention - as it sits, the pedal can be pushed to the floor with no braking pressure. Details, starting from the front to back: PTO driven winch (‘ALLSTATE’), with shaft/shifter (complete to driveline) Stamped hood – original front clip, all solid lights are present, less one headlight/trim ring (buckets are there) Cooling system is good Electrical System is converted to 12v, basics to make it drive are finished – lights, horn, etc..are not. Mopar battery remanufactured carb Electronic fuel pump/adjustable regulator Firewall and dash are good windshield has original glass, some hardware.. attached windshield frame is rough, seals are gone. I have already purchased and will include a good CJ3 frame/glass (vent door is also included - will need pivot hardware and gaskets. Heater good material/seat bases gauges work, but the odometer numbers are worn (glass is present) Custom aluminum fuel tank Original Tool box (stamped) Tailgate in fair condition – plenty solid to use Frame: boxed front, solid front to back. Body mount perches are rough, no actual body mounts are present. Body: complete, but in need of attention.. flooring sub-structure wood in exposed in spots, rear looks to have several pin-hole sections (under galvanized sheet), cab/front section has been patched (poorly) and needs attention. Center tunnel is solid. Driveline is intact and it runs/drives. Tires/wheels are 15” – someone told me this is, possibly, a rare sub-model of the early CJ, since 15” wheels are mounted and clear drums.. not really sure (?) Brakes need work – pedal to the floor, with no braking power.Clutch functions/shifts fine through gears both transfer case/transmissi Parts collected/included: CJ3 windshield (sandblasted, acid dipped) – with glass/vent. No rubber gaskets. Two tops: full hard top and half hard top Hard doors Tow bar complete, removed carb and any/all nuts, bolts and wires CJ5 front axle assembly, with oversized drums, new lines and shoes – locking hubs installed early YJ rollbar for retro-fit (seen it done, fit nice), with sport bars YJ rear mounted fuel tank (steel), with skid plate a bunch of steering linkage New floor hardware for mounting seats, along with two fixed seat bases and slider Fisher plow blade, no mounting hardware (intent was to cut it down and fab links) As it sits, the seats are removed, the fuel tank is disconnected.. to clearly see condition of floor. Pickup. Although a tow bar is present, I suggest a trailer for transport. Also, not all of the additional parts will fit in the jeep.. be sure to have room for the axle, top(s), doors, etc! And a safe place to transport the windshield, too! I have a bill of sale from PO and will provide documentation certifying my ownership, but no vin/id tags are on the Jeep. It is possible that an ID number can be found under the boxing (left front frame, high on the horn), but I am not willing to remove the frame boxing to certify.
