Vehicle Detail
This is a nice running Trophy 500C. Brief history of the bike: sold from original owner to family who owned from 1975 to 2012. I purchased last year in non-running condition. While everything was there it had been sitting neglected since 1991 - the Idaho plates on the bike have a tab from 1981 so I assume that was the last time it was used on the street. Last season I disassembled the bike, painted the frame and all black parts as well as the tank. Everything else was polished, cleaned and prepared for use. I had the engine rebored with 20 over pistons/rings, new valves, guides, springs and all seals replaced including the front forks. Carb was rebuilt and the tires appear as new but are non-original Pirelli "Route" road type tires. All the chrome is orginal and is good, however these items show typical old bike wear: the grab rail, the fork nuts, and fork seal assembly. The exhaust system is shiney and presentable but has a couple of wear spots on both mufflers which appear to be caused by a rubbing from the bird cage heat shield. The crossover pipe has some rust on the back side I chose not to rechrome because everything looks shiney and you have to carefully look to find these blemishes. The wheel rims show no rust or pitting. Other chrome items: headlight bezel, handle bars are also excellent and no pitting. The seat is original and the Triumph logo is so faint that it is essentially gone. The front aluminum fender had a dent repaired near the top bracket - it too is something you have look for to see, the rear fender has a 1" crack just below the license plate. Everything works: lights, tail light, horn, kill switch, typically starts with a kick or two. Drives and shifts perfectly. A fun bike to ride because of its relatively light weight and strong running 500cc motor. Nothing needs to be done except ride it, if you want to perfect it - there is not much it needs to make it show quality bike.
