Vehicle Detail

1970 #S MATCHING CORVETTE CONVERTIBLE 350/300HP AUTO BOTH HARD TOP AND NEW SOFT TOP POWER STEERING, BRAKES AND WINDOWS GORGEOUS FACTORY CODE MARLBORO MAROON PAINT! THIS 350 RUNS STRONGER THAN MOST! 1 This gorgeous Corvette has alot of options and was a five year project to get it to the beautiful car it is today. This car is painted its true paint code 975 Marlboro Maroon and has the correct black interior. She rides and drives great and is turn key ready. I will tell the story and history as we go through the pictures. I have driven this car alot and it is really nice and ready for a loving home. 2 Please be patient because they are 90 pictures in all light scenarios so you can see the car as it really looks. I take my pictures in full sun, partial sun an shaded areas as well as the flourescent lighting. I try to put close ups of the parts that are sometimes not pictured. The pictures are just as they come out of the camera and not ran through any type of photo enhancing program such as photoshop. What you see is what you get! The wait to see all pictures is worth it if you are looking for a great factory correct car. 3 The chrome and stainless is very nice even the tail pipe extensions are new. This is a rust free Texas car. 4 5 The interior is very nice and the seats were replaced during the early part of this restoration. The car was driven some during the long period before it was stripped and painted its original paint code. The paint is PPG base coat, clear coat from the PPG historical archives for 1970 marlboro maroon. 6 All the guages work except the clock and the tach. The tach drive works but the needle is stripped. I have a tach that comes with the car to replace the needle. This car runs cool and the oil pressure is great. Some of the fiberoptics work it may just need the bulb set. EVERYTHING on the car works with the exception of these three things. 7 THE TIRES, PAINT AND NEW TOP WERE JUST DONE A COUPLE MONTHS AGO. THE TIRES STILL HAVE SOME SPOTS OF THE BLUE COATING THAT CAME ON THEM. 8 I am a retired farmer and I buy and sell a few cars a year. I buy only matching number cars and I always make sure the date codes, build dates match in the correct time frame in every way. I only purchase cars I would want to own for myself. I have 100% feedback on alot of cars and I believe it is because I have big pictures and alot of them. I will go into great detail to list this car. I know Corvette collectors want only cars that are matching numbers and original as possible. This car has the original drivetrain and has GM replacement parts. 9 I know alot of people take hard tops off and never use them. I will take a thousand off the selling price and keep the hard top if you do not want it. 10 ALL LIGHTS WORK AS THEY SHOULD WITH ALL NEW HOSES. THE WIPER DOOR OPENS AND SHUTS AS THEY SHOULD TOO. 11 If you have questions or would like to make me a reasonable offer just give me a call. 870 930 6104 CENTRAL STANDARD TIME 8 AMTO 7 PM. Please do not ask my reserve. THANKS. 13 This car looks dark in the shade and in the sun really lightens the color. The paint looks like deep water you could just put your arm into. The car has alot of curb appeal. 14 This car has the factory plug wire covers and notice it even has the part numbers on hose and the correct hose clamps. This is great running car with above average oil pressure and the car runs cool with no over heating when left idleing for long peroids. I was told the engine had 500 miles on a complete professional rebuild. I have put a couple hundred miles on it and the oil looked clean and new when I put the new valve covers on. 14 15 THE UNDERCARRIAGE IS VERY NICE WITH ALOT OF NEW PARTS AND RUST FREE FRAME. I HAVE PICTURES AT THE END OF THIS LISTING. 16 17 18 19 20 THE STAINLESS TRIM ON THE ROCKERS IS GOOD BUT SHOW SOME WEAR. 21 22 23 PLEASE NOTICE THIS CAR LOOKS GOOD IN SHADED AREAS, IN FULL SUN OR IN FLOURESCENT LIGHTING. THE CAR IS LIKE AN MIRROR AND IT SHOWS REFLETIONS OF EVERYTHING AROUND IT. IT WOULD DO GREAT AT CAR SHOWS AND CRUISE NIGHTS. 24 25 The engine compartment looks great with everything in place as it should be. The new hoses are GM and all the wiring is neat and clean as it should. I think the altenator is gm replacement with part number stamped in. 26 The carbuerator is new and works great and the choke works as it should. I have the factory carb. that comes with the car. 27 28 Trim tag shows the A19 DECODES TO JAN, 19 OF 1970. In 1970, the first cars were not started until January because of the GM strike. This was one of the early production cars. The vin number for Jan. ended in 402281 and this car was 401184 as showing the next picture. 400 standard black interior and 975 Marlboro Marroon paint. 29 30 V0112CTG decodes to V= small block 01 = January 12=12th day CTG= 350 block 300 horse power, auto trans. The casting number on the block is A 8 0 as shown in picture is a=january 8th 0=1970. 31 70S401184 decodes to 1970 model S = St Louis 401184 is the last six of vin number 32 1970 Model had two vin numbers, one on the A pillar and this one in the door that is a nato sticker that has to be on the car for overseas shipping. 33 3970010 IS CORRECT CASTING BLOCK NUMBER 34 35 THIS CASTING NUMBER IS A 8 O = JANUARY 8TH 1970 it could be a 6 instead of an 8 for the day. Both of these numbers are are well with in the time range to meet NCRS guide lines. 36 My small camera took this picture in reverse the number is correct and it is 3965577. 37 38 ALL OF THE WEATHERSTRIPPING IS NEW AND THE DOORS ARE STILL TIGHT SO THE DOORS HAVE TO BE SHUT FIRMLY. 39 40 41 The dash is nice and the radio will play, but the reception is like all original-not very good. 42 The wire hanging down is now fixed and is the passenger side interior light. 43 44 45 46 47 48 The trans shifts real good just as it should and the passing gear works correctly too. THE CAR HAS A GREAT PASSING GEAR AND GETS IT DONE FAST. THE CAR SHOWS 60 MPH AT 2500 RPM'S. I would say it is 3 36 gears, because that would be factory correct limited slip. I did not drop the spare to check the numbers on the rear end but was told they match. It should get great gas mileage with that gear ratio. 49 I HAD THE NEW TOP INSTALLED AFTER I BOUGHT THE CAR. THEY DID A FANTASTIC JOB AND IT IS VERY TIGHT. NOTICE THE TAG IS STILL ON IT. 50 ALL LIGHTS WORK FRONT AND REAR AND ALL VACUUM WORKS GREAT. 51 52 53 THE REAR CHROME IS GREAT DRIVER QUALITY AND I AM SURE IT WAS RECHROMED AT SOME POINT BEFORE I GOT THE CAR. THE LICENSE PLATE CHROME IS NEW. THE TAIL LIGHTS ARE VERY NICE TOO. 54 55 56 57 58 59 60 61 62 THE FRONT BUMPER HAD A SMALL DISCOLORATION PLACE, BUT IT SHOULD NOT BE A DEAL BREAKER. IT IS GREAT DRIVER QUALITY. 63 The vinyl top is pretty nice. It does have one spot that is discolored and a small spot that shows wear. As with all corvettes, the window has some gaps and the top would need to be fastened down with bolts to not rattle and squeak. Convertibles are not air tight. 64 65 66 If anyone wants to ask questions, I can walk around the car as we talk to answer any questions. 870 930 6104 central standard time 8 AM TO 7 pm. 67 68 ONE OF THE RALLY WHEELS COULD USE REPAINTING. 69 70 71 72 This a nice car to be 43 years old. 73 74 75 76 77 78 NOTICE THE REFLECTIONS OF THE TREE IN THESE PICTURES. 79 80 ONE LITTLE SPOT NEXT TO THE LICENSE PLATE. 81 82 83 84 85 86 87 The car has been greased and the fluids checked and I have driven it from place to place having things fixed. I believe the car to be very sound and ready to go. 88 The previous owner replaced the trailing arms, bushings, pins, springs, shocks and the complete undercarriage was rebuilt. When we had the car serviced I saw where the money he spent went. The car had to many new parts to list them all. I had the undercarriage washed and all the wheels removed to check it out . The car is rust free in the areas that show rust first. The steering is tight and from the bottom you could see the car was done by a professional. The car looked too good to do anything to it so he touched it up a little and from the overspray that got on the car when it was painted. The car was detailed under the hood when the motor and trans was out of the car for the overhauling. 89 The heat shields are in place and I saw from the drain holes in the floor pan it has been lined with aluminum covered heat insulation under the carpet inside. I could see the motor has been done by a professional. The motor was rebuilt and it does run better than most 300hp. It has a auesome passing gear. All the exhaust was replaced from front to the mufflers. 90 The tunnel heat shield is new before the trans was replaced. 91 BRAKE LINES AND CALIPER AND BRAKE PADS LOOK GREAT WITH ALOT OF NEW PARTS DURING THE RESTORATION. 92 I did feel a spare tire in the carrier but did not drop it down. The jack is in its place along with the lug wrench. 93 Every thing looks neat as it should. 94 I probably left something out because I saw alot of replaced parts. 95 The rear spring was replaced and has the rubber and the rear end is a possi. Both wheels TURN THE SAME DIRECTION. 96 Terms of Sale The buyer will submit a NON-REFUNDABLE $2,000 deposit within 48 hours of the close of the auction to secure the vehicle. That's a mistake. It says 300 hp everywhere else which is correct. On Mar-08-13 at 06:18:44 PST, seller added the following information: I have been asked what the price is locally.
