THIS IS A NO RESERVE AUCTION. THIS ITEM WILL BE SOLD. DO NOT HESITATE TO CALL AND MAKE AN OFFER TO END THE AUCTION EARLY!!!!! 8036451634This item has been re-listed because the bidder was unable to complete the offer they made.Question: When you were young, what was cool? What consumed your thoughts? What was the poster of on your bedroom wall? I’ll tell you, Ferrari’s, Fire Trucks, Some luscious lips…. The list goes on and on! These things have one thing in common they’re RED! Well here’s your next red passion, a 1979 BMW R65 (passion included at no extra cost). I’ve been dreaming of Street Trackers and Scramblers for years but they mostly seem a bit “cobbled” together, as if they were built from a spare parts bin. My goal with this bike was to make a sleek, ultra stripped down vintage Tracker that had a 50’s look with a modern feel. So…… Up for sale is a 1979 BMW R65/6 in full Street Tracker glory! This bike is the 5th we’ve built since opening the Speed ‘N’ Soul Garage and certainly the one that most represents my personal style of bike. Ultra-light weight, stripped out simple clean aggressive styling and fat sticky tires. In true Café/Street Tracker style, the focus of this build was “less is More”. We only build BMW’s. Why? They are the best bikes out there. Nothing lasts or rides like an Airhead. However, they are not the prettiest machines on the road and that’s where the Speed ‘N’ Soul Garage comes in… Absolutely NO EXPENSE has been spared in the building of this Tracker I started by addressing all of the known weak points on these older airheads by swapping out and up grading parts to the very best available (see parts list below), then after a few hundred miles of tweaking, a total frame up restoration began. I have a full build file with a nauseating amount of detail photos of the entire process that will of course come with the bike. The frame had all the now un-necessary tabs removed, the sub frame was shortened almost 10” so the seat and rear end had a smoother line, finishing at the rear axle. The frame was then painted with BMW Jet Black epoxy paint for durability. The steering head and swing arm bearings were replaced, the engine was stripped and totally gone through, (see parts list) but needed very little because it only had 24xxx on the clock! Nothing for an Airhead! It purrs on the first touch of the starter. Buffing the engine to a brushed aluminum finish is turning out to be one of my trademarks. It makes the whole machine “pop” and adds an unusual touch for an Airhead. We then totally rebuilt the forks using all new seals and progressive San Jose Springs with reworked valving. While they were apart I also polished them to carry the smooth look throughout the whole bike. We fully rebuilt the final drive and (you guessed it) polished that too, installed the swing arm with a new boot, new D-shaft bolts and polished the original shocks. After riding the bike the old shocks were clearly not up to par with the front so I replaced them with ultra-trick and totally adjustable, piggy back racing units from Clevis. This is the best riding Vintage bike I’ve ever been on!! We replaced all the cables and hoses and then turned our attention to the rear. I wanted the bike to seem very race orientated so I replace all the lights with super light LED units. The stop/tail light tuck’s right up under the rear rail and follows the curve of the frame, I then hid the indicators inside the frame rails under the seat, they are invisible unless in use, perfect! Then we installed the exhaust with shorty megaphone chrome cans and wrapped the headers in titanium hod-rod wrapping that reduced the pipe temp by almost half! The perfect handle bar turned out to be a vintage flat track unit from Dime City Cycles which gives aggressive but comfortable ergonomics (and looks badass). The tank was painted a Chevy Flame Red with a Performance White stripe Matching the front fender which the pictures barley do justice. I have the paint codes and it will of course be supplied with the bike in the build file. I wanted the seat to really stand out and provide a foil for the tank so I went with a rich full brown leather that was wrapped by “All that Jazz” upholstery in a medium firm foam. The line follows that of the frame and gives a subtle lift to the lines as the bike finishes. The grips are vintage fit and the same brown as the seat. I really could rattle on about the bike for pages and pages but take a look at the pictures, read the parts list below and ask any questions you may have. There isn’t a more beautiful, well-made or better running R65/6 out there. This bike needs nothing and is perfect for riding and or showing. It wasn’t built to be a trailer queen but it could be! C’mon people, make me an offer! Seriously!! I like to haggle (and let’s be honest, when you’ve got something this special to sell I’m in a good position)! I will provide a “Bumper to Bumper” 3 month warranty on every piece of the bike and I’ll provide free shipping to anywhere in the continental US if you hit the “buy it now”. If you have some ideas for a bike or wish to commission a build, please do not hesitate to contact us, full references available. AIRHEADS FOR LIFE!!!
