RESERVE PRICE LOWERED!Up for sale is my 1960 MGA Roadster which I have owned for 3 years. I purchased the car in poor condition and has been fully restored keeping everything as original as possible. This car is not a concourse restoration but it is one of the best 'drivers' you will find with many new items and upgrades. Today this is a car you can take out on Sundays and to local car shows and just enjoy on the open road. I often drive it to work and love the feeling. It is a real head-turner and people often open their window in the traffic to ask me about it. I drive the car in Miami, FL on the highway up to 70mph with no issues or overheating in the traffic. The photos talk for themselves but here is a list of all the work that has been done to the car; Interior - Full new tan upholstery installed. New seat covers with new foam, new tan trim, new carpets in cockpit and trunk. New door and interior panels were also installed new. - All dials and instruments rebuilt and working including turn signal, wipers, horn, speedo, tach, map light, etc. I even installed an aux power outlet out of sight which is useful for accessories. - An aftermaket radio and speakers have been installed. Speakers are mounted on a custom made matching support in the door. Both Radio and Speakers are easily removable if not in line with new owner's taste. I also have the blanking panel for the radio to block off the hole if you decide to remove it. - New 3-point seat belts were installed for improved safety. The top of the belt can be detached to put the top up - The wood steering wheel is in excellent condition and has a nice feel. This is an expensive upgrade. - The car comes with a black tonneau cover which is in good condition. - The black vinyl convertible top is in poor condition but is functional in case you need to use it one day. I never got round to changing it since I rarely use it. It is cheap to buy a new one and install it. The top frame is solid. I also include in the sale the side windows which fit onto the door and make a good seal with the top. Body - When I first bought the car I went through all the car and I was not able to find significant rust. The lower part shows no signs of rust. I removed any spots was able to find, applied a protective spray and painted over - All chrome parts, accessories and windscreen were removed, the car body was sanded down to remove imperfections and then re-sprayed with DuPont paint. It was finished with clear coat for a fantastic brilliant finish. This was done 1 year ago so the paint still looks great. - New piping was installed between panels. Doors close well and alignment of panels is good. - All chrome is in good condition. The bumpers are showing some small signs of pitting but is is not noticeable to the make eye. Suspension & Systems - I rebuilt the front suspension completely and changed all bushes for 'polyurethane' ones so they should not degrade for a long time. I changed all damaged components so there is no play in the links. The suspension is very solid and the shock take up well all bumps. The handling is great. - The whole braking system has been rebuilt and works very well. The disk brake rotors were replaced for new ones. The front calipers were rebuilt and all seals changed. All lines were flushed. Master cylinder purchased new by previous owner but was rebuilt with new seals and surfaces honed. Rear slave cylinders changed and new brake shoes installed. No leaks on brake system. The car brakes very well. - The steering rack was rebuilt and adjusted. There is NO play in the steering which is very rare. New boots and new ball-rods installed. - I bought the new bushes to rebuild the rear suspension but never got around to it. I will include the items in the sale. - Both rear hub seals were replaced (retain differential oil). - The fuel system was flushed when I got the car and and fuel tank cleaned. The fuel pump has been upgraded to a solid state one since the 'bellows pump' tended to be unreliable. All lines are clean. The carburetors were cleaned and rebuilt with all new seals. - The exhaust headers have been wrapped in fiberglass tape. This helps to keep the temperature in the engine bay down. - I went through all the Electrical system when I first go the car. The car has been changed to Negative ground, and one since 12V battery. The generator and control box work perfectly and battery charges well. - Ignition system works fine. Distributor was rebuilt, new points, new condensor, etc. Timing set. - Wheels are in good condition and painted 3 years ago. Tires are Engine & Transmision - Car has original with original gearbox. Engine was rebuilt 22,000 miles ago by the previous owner and runs very strong with plenty of power. I can easily overtake cars on the highway. Engine does not smoke or consume oil (at least not more than normal) - Gearbox shifts smoothly in all gears and oil level is good. - Clutch & Pressure plate & Oil seals were changed 2 year ago by professional mechanic I am an active member in the MGA forum where I have have received plenty of advise about all the work I was carrying out so I am certain it was done right. The car was register in the MGA Registar and it was previously registered by other owners so the history of this car is known. Overall, this MGA 1600 Roadster is a great driver. All the maintenance and upgrades done make the car drive great and you will really enjoy how it feels. I have spent countless hours and a lot of money on it but because of family I can't drive it much any more. I believe this car is a good value for someone who appreciates these cars and I hope you enjoy it as much as I have. I forgot to mention that the car will come with 2 workshop manuals (Haynes and original MGA) plus all the bills for the parts replaced and services performed including those from previous owners dating to the late 80's.Inspections are welcome. Just send me a message to arrange. Engine runs smoothly and transmission shifts smoothly in all gears too! The car really doesn't need anything mechanically. I got several questions about rust. To my knowledge there is no rust on the frame, or the body and it is clean and correctly painted. I have not seen any other major rust. when working under the car. I have uploaded some pictures of the underside so you see what it looks like. The car's VIN no is; GHNL 81816 and matches the title. The engine is 16GA-U 13110 which matches the car and year. Also the original color of this car WAS red. I found out when respraying it i some areas we went down to the metal and you could see the original primer and original red color. Happy Bidding! Gonzalo
