Vehicle Detail
1986 Alfa Romeo Spider - Quadrifoglio! 26,392 Original Miles - W/Hardtop You are viewing a privately owned 1986 Afla Romeo Spider Quadrifoglio! Classic Cars Online is helping the owner with the presentation and listing of this fine vehicle. You will be purchasing this vehicle directly from the private owner. This vehicle has been in the same family since it was new. The current owners acquired the vehicle in 2009 after their mother, who was the original owner past away. At that time, they had their mechanic go over and do a ton of work. Such as brakes, suspension, fuel pump, along with a list other items. Mechanically, the vehicle is ready to be driven and have fun with. Cosmically, the vehicle could use a little TLC and attention. Below is a detailed description on every area of the vehicle. Please read and view all of the 90 pictures listed in the photo gallery. Click on each picture to make them larger. Would you buy a car on eBay with four pictures (or six) and one paragraph of description? NO. That is why at Classic Cars Online our listings will go over and show every area of the vehicle that is up for auction. Bid with confidence! Brief Quadrifoglio History: In 1986, the Spider series received a revised interior and yet another trim level: the "Quadrifoglio". The top-of-the-line Spider Quadrifoglio possessed an interior similar to that found in the Veloce, but with blood red carpets and gray leather seats with contrasting red stitching. On the outside, the Quadrifoglio was distinctively styled with a controversial plastic body kit that consisted of front and rear lower bumpers as well as side skirts. It also came with unique 15" alloy wheels and a removable hardtop. Alfa offered the Quadrifoglio in only three colors: Red, Silver, and Black. Body & Paint: The vehicle's color is "Red", the original color for this car. (It looks like it could be most if not all still original paint.) The car has a small area of rust on the rear wheel well near the rear bumper. (See Photo #23) Otherwise, all other areas appear to be clean. The paint still has a nice shine but with a quick wet sanding or buffing, it would look better. A gray painted pin stripe runs from front to back on both sides. There are a few areas with some discoloration in the paint. Around the driver's headlight and trunk lid. Not sure what caused these stains, or if they can be removed by wet sanding the clear coat. (See photo #16 and #33) There are some small indentations (Door dings) on the right quarter panel area. These may or may not be able to be removed by a "Paintless Dent" removing person. The air intake vent that sits on top of the hood near the wipers is faded. (Photo #30) There is a scratch that runs the width of the trunk near the spoiler. (see photo #33) All doors, trunk and hood close perfectly and without any problems. The car comes with the original removable hardtop along with a Black convertible softtop. The convertible top has a torn rear plastic window, but the rest of the top is in good condition. (Sorry, I couldn't get any photos of the softtop with the hardtop installed.) Chrome & Trim: All the trim is original. Front and rear bumpers are in good condition along with the moulding around the windshield. The stock emblems, mirrors, door handles, wipers, rear spoiler and the Quadrifoglio body kit items are all very nice. The plastic rear taillights look good with no cracks or fading. Interior: Overall condition of interior is good. Yes, it could use a nice cleaning and detailing. The gray Leather seats are in great condition with no rips, holes, or cigarette burns. The red carpet area behind the seats is in excellent condition. Passenger and drivers side carpet does show some wear and discoloration. No original floor mats. All of the instruments/gauges are operable. (Power windows, gauges, lights, wipers, horn, etc..) The factory Alfa radio/cassette player works, but needs the code to unlock it. (The battery was disconnected.) Heater and air conditioning are both in working order. The headliner on the removable hardtop looks very good. Glass: No chips or cracks in any of the glass. Believe to be still all original. Both power windows operate with no problems. The power window motor on the driver's side was replaced. After it was replaced, the window leaves a slight opening when it is all the way up. It will need a minor adjustment. (Photo #25) The three windows on the hardtop are in great condition. The rear glass has a heated defroster built into it. Wheels & Tires: All four tires are brand new and in great shape. They are Toyo Extensa A/S 195/60R15 87T BSW. They could use a quick scrubbing and cleaning. They are mounted on the original 15" Quadrifoglio wheels for this model. The wheels are nice but show some oxidation and marks. One of the Alfa Romeo center caps is missing in the photos, but the owner has one ready to be installed. Spare tire and wheel are in great condition also. Engine Compartment: Original I4 1962 cc, 119.7 cu. in., 2.0L engine with Bosch fuel injection. Under the hood is clean but not detailed. It wouldn't take that much to degrease and detail this compartment. See the "Mechanical" section for all the work that was done to this vehicle. Trunk Compartment: The trunk compartment is in good condition. The red liner/carpet in trunk is original. No signs of rust. The spare tire is also new with a 15" Quadrifoglio wheel. Not sure on the jack and jacking tools. The cable and handle that releases the trunk lid is new. The black vinyl "boot" cover for the convertible top is in the trunk and snaps on when the softtop is down. (When hardtop is removed.) Chassis - Frame & Undercarriage: Undercarriage and chassis are in good condition. Floor pans are all original. There isn't any rust proofing or undercoating covering up problems areas or repaired sections. Nine times out of ten, people selling a car would not talk about or take any photos of the underside. The undercarriage tells you a lot about the car, that is why we took a few pictures of the bottom. Mechanical: Engine, Transmission ,Clutch and Rear Differential: Original 2.0L engine. It was tuned up with new spark plugs and wires. The fuel injectors were cleaned along with replacing the fuel filter and installing a new fuel pump. Runs great with no ticks or smoke. The factory 5 speed manual transmission shifts nice and easy. The clutch feels great and does not slip or jerk. The rear differential seems fine with no known problems or unusual sounds. A new battery was just installed. Brakes: The whole brake system was gone over. New brakes pads, calipers, rotors, bearings, and seals. They feel good. Does not pull, pulsate, fade, or make any noise. The parking brake is in working order as well. Suspension/Steering: The mechanic also went through the suspension installing new upper control arms. Both the front and rear suspension is in good condition. Exhaust: No known problems with stock exhaust system. The condition looks to be very good with no signs of rusted area or holes.
