This Porsche 356a Convertible "D", came from the Hakim collection in Honolulu, HI. Believed to have been restored in the early 1990's. Since that time it had been in dry storage. I purchased this car and gave it a freshening up. The engine had gone missing while it was in storage. A period correct block was acquired and a total rebuild has been done by Bob Simpson. German 1800 pistons and cylinders, S cam, Solex p44 carbs. Original Transmission is still in the car. The whole braking system has been renewed, new master cylinder, new wheel cylinders, and hoses.Most of the body panels are original. Original date stamped wheels, power coated, with new tires. New convertible top has been fitted. The only rust that I could find is under the battery box. The interior could use a little help, a mouse had his way with some of the leather. So my mechanic tells me that would make it a 1700cc, not a 1800.
