Vehicle Detail
2002 Lincoln Town Car long wheelbase Cartier Edition "L" - $4995 (Haverhill) Hi First of all, forgive me for such a wordy listing but this is a special car with a unique history, and also we have done a lot of work to it, which you would enjoy knowing about. The odometer mileage is 265,500. The engine was replaced in March of 2011 with a replacement from a Connecticut State Police cruiser that was hit in the rear on the interstate. It now has about 96,000 miles on it. The transmission was recently rebuilt by a shop with over 40 years experience, that specializes in automatic transmissions. This work included a remanufactured torque converter, a rebuilt valve body, fresh fluid and a new filter, and other internal work. There has been a lot of preventative maintenance and tasteful improvements: 4 new KYB Gas-Adjust shock absorbers, new ball joints, 8 new premium brake pads, 2 new front brake rotors, a complete set of polyurethane anti-sway bar bushings, front & rear, New Iridium spark plugs, new ignition coil packs, new upper and lower radiator hoses and a coolant flush, new K&N permanent air filter, fresh Mobil 1 full-synthetic engine oil with a Mobil 1 oil filter, new 130-Amp limousine alternator, new serpentine belt, remanufactured air compressor for rear air suspension (despite the problems some people have had with the 1980's systems, by 2002 Lincoln had simplified this system and it has been rugged and completely reliable for me), 4 new tires with 4-wheel alignment, new heater core and 4 new vacuum actuators for the HVAC system (this is a huge pain in the ass of a job, as the entire dashboard has to be removed, so you can be happy that it was just done), new blower motor and probably some more items I cannot recall. The entire undercarriage was treated to remove any surface rust, and recoated with Eastwood Extreme Chassis Black. Everything underneath is now clean, shiny rustfree black. This car has ZERO rust. The interior received a replacement carpet set in black from a 2004 Town Car L. This gives the car a very classy two-tone appearance and the black carpet resists stains much better than the original grey carpet. Also, the front door gaskets were replaced. At the same time as the carpet upgrade, there was an extensive amount of Dynamat and Hushmat soundproofing applied, even to the HVAC housing and on the firewall when the dashboard was removed to replace the heater core. This makes a noticeable difference in the sound level. I believe this is now the quietest Town Car L you can find. The driver's seat was rebuilt with parts from a 2006 due to a faulty fore/aft motor. The audio system was upgraded to a top-of-the-line Kenwood with Bluetooth and splash-resistant rear audio controls for the VIP seat. The EATC (Electronic Automatic Temperature Control) controller was replaced with a remanufactured one. This controls the entire HVAC system and has buttons for temperature, mode, A/C ON/OFF, etc. There is a 15 Inch High-Definition (true 1080P) monitor in the ceiling with a custom-made swing-down holder, upholstered in matching light grey leather. This unit has a built-in DVD player. It also has an HDMI input with the other end of the cable sitting in the front section of the front console, ready for a portable BluRay player. The one I initially installed failed on me. The movie soundtrack can be listened to through the car stereo. There is an iPod/iPhone holder at the VIP seat (the right rear location in the USA). Your customers can listen to their choice of music or business podcasts and control the volume, track selection, etc. from their seat. They can also move the right-front seat fore and aft at will. This is great when they are working on their laptop or having a meal using the tray tables, as there is so much legroom in this vehicle that the tray tables are normally a bit far away. There is also an iPod/iPhone holder/charger at the driver's station. I made a custom center console tray, 19 x 9 inches, 3 inches deep, covered in matching leather. The bottom liner is in black padded leather and easily pulls out for cleaning. There are 2 heavy-duty wooden tray tables (sometimes called tea tables), each with an LED task light and subtle blue accent lighting. The rear seat has been slightly modified to include better cushioning underneath, a firmer lumbar support, and a slight repositioning so that on a long drive it is more relaxing to sit back there. Tint King in Billerica, Massachusetts has done 10 vehicles for me so far and this is up to their usual high standards. The film they chose has 100% UV-a and UV-b blocking. The front door windows are lighter and will pass inspection in any state, but they still retain excellent performance due to use of a ceramic film. All of these windows had a break-resistant film applied, which does two things: it makes the car much, much more resistant to having a window smashed from outside, and in the event of an accident, it holds glass shards in place, rather than being thrown into the interior as a result of an impact. The Garmin 378 GPS has the optional XM satellite radio installed, along with XM Weather Radar. These low-profile antennas are on the roof. The area below the grill features two Whelen 500-Series LED daytime running lamps, which are quite bright and add to the ease with which other drivers can see you in dawn and dusk conditions. The roof features a low-profile Thule rack system, almost invisible when not in use. The rear decklid also has a Thule luggage rack system installed. All Thule gear is compatible and will just click into these rails. Having extra luggage capacity on the trunklid is necessary when picking up two couples going on a long vacation. And, having this added capability on the roof and trunklid makes this car somewhat of a work truck in certain situations. And the self-leveling rear suspension means you will always stay level, no matter what you are carrying. The front bumper cover is new, made by Lincoln, not a reproduction. The grill shell, grill insert and headlamps are also all new. I added a hood ornament from a 2011, as Lincoln did not install hood ornaments on the Town Car from 1998 to 2002. There is a 500-watt AC inverter which powers a color-matched AC outlet under the rear seat. This is for charging of laptops and any other electrical device your customers bring with them. The rear interior features aircraft-grade LED lighting strips. The front license plate holder is from a 2012 Porsche Panamera, which makes this car faster. There is a professionally-installed wiring harness for a standard 4-pin trailer connection in the trunk. Just drape it outside the trunk opening, close the trunk and away you go! Of course, you will have to install a trailer hitch, which this car has never had. The Livery Package 930A consists of: Factory 6-Inch wheelbase stretch. This car has 10 inches more rear legroom than a Crown Victoria or Grand Marquis, as just the regular Town Car already has a 4 inch longer wheelbase than those other models. Wider-opening rear door hinges. These doors open almost a full 90 degrees Heavy Duty 8.8 inch ring gear differential Heavy Duty Battery 3.27 Final drive gear ratio Heavy Duty front stabilizer bar 130 Amp alternator Heavy Duty steering gear Heavy Duty lower control arms Heavy Duty jack Heavy Duty cooling package Full-size spare tire Rear seat amenities package: dual overhead lighted vanity mirrors, cigar-sized ashtrays in doors (now powder-coated sky blue to hold mints for customers), dual rear power points, rear-seat audio and climate controls, one-piece rear floormat (no longer present due to stains), heated rear seats, rear seat 4-way adjustable head restraints The Cartier model includes the following upgrades: Full dual exhaust, which increases horsepower to 239 Chrome-plated aluminum alloy wheels with flush hubcaps Front and rear heated seats with 5-level backrest and seat cushion heating (selectable) Premium leather with embroidered Cartier logo on seats Exterior gold package with Cartier emblem on trunklid Cartier gold clock Alpine premium 5-channel stereo with subwoofer (all still present, now driven by Kenwood head unit) If you are a limousine operator, this is an excellent value and is ready to make money for you. If on the other hand, you are just someone with a family who wants some comfort and room to stretch out, this is a great choice. I routinely get 26 MPG on the highway at 65 MPH, even with the A/C running. It runs great on 87 octane, which is a further form of savings for you. The fact that these large cars still get decent fuel economy is one of the automotive world's little-known secrets. This vehicle was entered into the Stratham Hill car show in 2011, and took first place in the Special Interest category. It is a sharp-looking automobile, and has a real sense of gravitas to it. It features more brightwork than the newer models, and you will most probably never see another one in this rare color combination. Just about every day someone compliments me on the look of this car. Keep in mind this is a rust-free automobile. These cars are widely-known for their ease of operation, reliability, comfort, low repair costs, widespread availability of parts, and safety. It is common to see these cars in taxi and limousine service with well over 400,000 to 500,000 miles on them. feel free to call, text or email me call Michael 407 618 6440
