Vehicle Detail

Selling our '41 WC-12. The truck has lots of local history and character. Had been used to haul gas,oil and the like from Gunnison to Crested Butte for historic Tony's Conoco back in the day. We used it for advertising and parades. Always starts right up. 6V electrics, heater, sideboards for flatbed. Brakes always need to be bled in the spring but stay up all summer. Truck was hand, brush painted a few years back and really looks good, like it should. Lettering on the side is hand painted as are the pinstripes. Great old attention getter, just don't need it any more. Would be great for your petroliana collection, business promotion, parade days or just a cool truck to drive to the coffee shop. Good luck, thanks for looking and get to bidding! Thought I would answer a few recurrent question in one post: Rust: Basically rust free, no rot of any sort. Solid frame, cab corners, floorboards, etc. Overheating: The truck has never run hot during parades, even at the somewhat slow and drawn out (yet always fun) Crested Butte 4th of July parade. Top speed: I am always a little surprised at this question. Powerwagons of this vintage and even most subsequent years are more tractor than truck. I've had M-37's, WM300's and a couple other WC's, they are all (for the most part, in stock form) 40 MPH trucks. You COULD probably drive this truck to Texas, New Mexico or Minnesota, but I STRONGLY suggest trailering to it's new home. Parts availability: The Powag community is a very friendly, close knit and helpful bunch. Lots of original parts are still available and a fair amout of aftermarket parts are easy to come by too. It's a Dodge, not a Ferrari. BIN: Currently, there is no Buy it Now price. Feel free to make an offer and I may end the auction, but as of right now, it's an auction, so if you want it, you have to bid. Thanks to all the lookers and bidders thus far. On Feb-01-13 at 05:27:25 PST, seller added the following information: Had a few more questions, so here are some answers: 4WD; Yes, it works. The truck has a non-syncro 4 speed and a in and out 4WD T-Case, no hi-lo range. The truck is geared so low I can't really imagine it needing a lower range. PTO: No PTO or winch setup is on the truck. These are not to difficult to come by and not particularly hard to install. Tires: It currently has 6) 235/85R16 radials on it. All are in good shape and hold air. I also have a spare wheel that will go with the truck. Trailering the truck: It should fit on just about any 16' trailer if the outside duals are removed (which I am happy to assist in). The wheels are "Budd" style, so it can be driven without the outside duals on with no problem. Glass: The sliding side windows are laminated safety glass and there are some cracks in a couple windows. All the glass is flat, so any auto glass shop can replace the cracked windows if the new owner chooses to do so. Cab: The truck was originally an open cab version, like the open cab weapons carrier. The cab was crafted up in CB I assume and is mostly an oak frame with metal cab corners and door skins. The roof is plywood covered with automotive type vinyl roof material. Whoever did the job was pretty crafty and it works well, but is not original and is home built, so it has some "charater" that comes with this type fabrication. Leaks: Yes, it has a few leaks. I would be more inclined to say seepage, but it will leave a few drops on the floor if parked overnight. It is not a leaky, oily , drippy mess, but it is not a bone dry Toyota either. Gauges, lights, heater: As I recall, all gauges work. I have never filled the gas tank full, so I don't know how accurate it is, but the needle does move when I put 5 of so gallons in. Lights in the gauges work (or at lest some do, I don't drive it at night much...if ever) and the headlights, tail light (yes, only one), brake light and, spot light all work. I think even the blackout lights work (or did last time I checked). The horn button is an ingenious strap of spring steel taped to the steering column that grounds the horn wire and actuates the horn. Like other aspects of the truck, I thought it was a pretty crafty solution to a horn button and left it that way. Occasionally it will "beep" on it's own (really more of an old skool HONK), but people just wave, so I have never looked into why it does that. Heater blower works and it is plumbed to coolant and does not leak. Wood in bed: Solid (Oak, I think). Not new, but plenty stout. Seat covers: I had them redone several years back. They are the original seats covered in brown Sundura type waterproof synthetic canvas. Look nice. Toolboxes under the seats are solid, not rusted out. Transport: I have a truck and trailer capable of hauling the truck. I may be able to assist in transport at additional cost. Probably somewhere around $2.00 a loaded mile plus overnight expenses if needed.
