Vehicle Detail
LET ME TELL YOU ALL ABOUT OUR FAMILY CAR THAT ONLY TWO OF US HAVE OWNED. FIRST OF ALL, THERE ISN'T ANOTHER CAR LIKE THIS WITH SO FEW MILES OF USE. My father in law spec'd out, ordered, owned and loved this car for 11 years. He was 78 years old when he purchased it from the local Lexus dealership. At 89 years of age he sold it to me and I've owned it less than 4 years. We have had every bit of history with this super car. My father in law put 55,000 miles on it and my wife has put on the difference to 73,000. This car has always been garaged and none of us have ever smoked. It's about flawless- Never wrecked, hit or damaged in any way and the interior is as super as the outside. During the years my father in law owned the car, it was rained on 2 times. In our ownership, maybe only rained on 8 to 10 additional times. The only mechanical flaw is the passengers side mirror. The electrical operation of the mirror doesn't work but does so manually. Replacing it that would mean that I couldn't sell it as all original. My father in law got a small scrape (see picture # 5) on the trunk. He repaired the scuff with the provided touch up kit as he didn't want paint work done to the car. It's almost invisible to the eye. Lexus hood struts last about 8 years tops. He replaced them once and I just recently did so also with Lexus struts and not aftermarket ones. Another point- The timing belt. This is an important replacement item. It was replaced in 2009 at 50,000 miles by the Lexus dealer. I have proof of that. It looks and drive like new. He paid 64,500.00 from the local Lexus dealer. That dealer has done all of it's service as he had a 10 year/ 100,000 mile warranty on it. All maintenance records are available and will come with the cars sale. The sticker was almost 58,000.00 in 1998. The additional monies spent by my father in law were sales tax, dealer installed tinted glass, dealer prep charge (cannot find an option on the car to justify that 700.00 dealer prep charge) and a expensive 10 year dealer warranty. dealer. It's like Johnny Carson said many years ago- "The dealer prep charge means that there's a lube job going on in the showroom"- but I digress. The tires have about 25,000 miles on them and are in good condition. The car has the original floor mats which were covered with mats. This car was one of the very last to be produced in Yokohama. I have no idea what value that has but my father in law was always impressed with that and mentioned it constantly. So that you'll know the care the car was given, our ages (of owners) are my father in law (90) when he sold it to me and mine at 67 years old. There were no children ever in it and none of us ever smoked. SPECIAL NOTE: This is the 2nd run of this auction. There were 11 or 12 good people wanting to buy this car and they could not due to financing. I want to point out that banks and credit unions won't finance a vehicle over 6 years of age. These people all found this out. So, I'm sure that your banking relations are good but you'll need to have available funds (other than your lending institutions) if you want to purchase this car. VERY SPECIAL NOTE: If you're an automotive dealer, a automotive wholesaler or anyone that buys cars with a sales tax exempt number- MOVE ON AND GO HAUNT THE NEXT GUY. I WON'T SELL TO YOU. Those guys think they can steal everything.
