Vehicle Detail

This is a top of the line 56 Pontiac Star Chief thats in need of a total restoration but worth saving. This could also be the answer to someone currently restoring one of these, as this car looks to be 99% complete. I finally got it from a neighbor who parked it in his backyard here in the high desert of Northern California over 20 years ago. Our initial plan was to customize it but its to good of an original car for us to cut up and make a hot rod out of. The car will come with a bill of sale as the neighbor has not found the title for it and I havent bothered to go to DMV and get one. The exterior body is pretty straight without much damage other then alot of minor surface rust. The frame, floors, cowl, fenders, wheel lips, rockers and trunk pan are all suprisingly solid. The worst rust is around the botom lip of the trunk lid otherwise minor 1/2 dollar size patches will be required in a couple other areas. All the original running gear is in place (316 automatic). We did get the motor to fire and run pretty good, we drove around the lot at our shop one afternoon. We went through the brakes and they are working (master and wheel cylinder, new pads and turned the drums). We found a receipt for a transmission rebuild worth 785. dollars in the glove box from the early 80s right before it was parked. We changed the trans fluid and it is working except it had no reverse? Have no idea why may be linkage or worse? Radiator needs to be rodded, it flows but not very well the new water pump didnt help much. Hoses and belts were replaced also. We pulled and steam cleaned the fuel tank and flushed the entire fuel system, rebuilt the stock carb. Windshield has a couple small rock dings the rest of the glass is good as well as all the mechanisms and latches. Doors open and shut solid. Original harness is working but will obviously require work - as we had lights blinks and the horn was stuck on. Original keys are working and included in this auction. Stainless is all there and serviceable. There is some trim with heavy pitting that will require some extensive work. Bumpers are complete and restorable. Interior was the blue/white leather option all there, in need of restoration. Original paint code was KK likely a special order - Cirrus Grey over Cirrus Grey. Tires were brand new in the early 80s, they do hold air. Original rims with spare, this sale includes the 4 correct hub caps. Not in pictures but included with the car 1) Two Stainless Steel Rear Wheel Skirts 2) Original Pontiac Radio 3) Original Air Cleaner 4) Original Jack 5) Some original misc. paperwork The car is sold as is where is with no warranties expressed or implied. We will load onto your carrier when it arrives here. We are located above the Napa Valley here in Northern California 95451. 2 1/2 Hours North of San Francisco off Hwy 101 - 2 Hours North of Sacramento off Hwy 5
