Vehicle Detail
I'm offering my 1976 Honda CB125S for sale. I spent the better part of this past year rebuilding the bike in my spare time. The rebuild included: - New coil, condensor, and battery. - Wheels disassembled, re-laced, trued and balanced. - New wheel bearings all around. - New rim strips, tubes, and tires. - New sprockets and chain. - New rear brake pads (fronts are fine, but I'll throw in a set). - New cables all around. - Engine disassembled, cylinder and head cleaned (heavy carbon from previous owner running too rich), valves lapped, re-assembled with new valve seals and cylinder/head gaskets. - Newer carburetor, new intake boot and manifold spacer. - New clutch plates and springs. Mechanically, it starts, idles, shifts, runs, and stops beautifully. Cosmetically, it's NOT a museum piece, but it's in pretty fine shape (especially the chrome), with the usual age-related blemishes. I'm listing them here since they don't show up very well in the photos, and I don't want to be accused of hiding stuff. - Lower forks have some light pitting from oxidation, but nothing deep. Doesn't affect them functionally, and the seals do not leak (the fork uppers are perfectly smooth). - The inner side (closest to the engine) of the exhaust pipe has lost its chrome and is pitted. I buffed out the rust and the underlying metal is sound; gives off a nice, solid ping when tapped. Plenty strong and no signs of bluing. Pipe has a slightly golden color near the engine which indicates that it was never run lean. This jives with the condition of the valves and cylinder head: no scorching or burn marks. - A few small spots of light surface rust. The tank, however, is clean and rust free. - The usual collection of tiny nicks and dings from road crud. The bike has about 5200 miles on it, and is insured, registered, and titled in my name. This little CB makes for a fantastic first bike: not too heavy, not overpowering, super easy to ride. Great for new riders or those that just want a solid dependable machine for puttering around town. It'll do an honest 45 MPH with my 200 lbs. aboard, and should hit 50 or more for a lighter rider. I've done all of the heavy lifting, so maintenance will be little more than changing the oil and checking the tires (I'm throwing in the Clymer manual anyway). Unlike a lot of the other CB125's I've seen here and elsewhere, this one needs NOTHING! Sure, you can get one of these for $700 or less, but you'll be well over $1000 by the time you've gotten it into the condition of this one. Not to mention the riding time you'll be losing. (Don't ask me how I know this!) Shipping arrangements are the responsibility of the winning bidder and I will do everything within reason to work with your shipper. Once paid in full, I can hold the bike for you until pickup has been arranged. If you'd like to have your mechanic take a look at it, no sweat - I've got nothing to hide. Naturally, since this a used vehicle, it is offered "as-is", with no warranties or guarantees, expressed or implied. Bike is for sale locally, so I reserve the right to end this auction until such time as a bid has been made.
