Here is our 2002 Subaru Impreza Outback Sport. It has a 2.5 liter 4 cylinder engine, automatic transmission, and all-wheel drive. All of the accessories work (including the clock!), and has cold air conditioning. The exterior is in good shape except for the rear bumper (see pics), and some rippling in the driver's door. The body is rust free. The interior is also in good shape, except for a couple of paint spots on the rear seat. The car drives and shifts well. Now for the bad points. The engine has developed what sounds like a bad wrist pin. Since it varies with temperature and engine load, it could be a bad rod bearing, but it varies too much...a rod bearing would be more consistent. The check engine light comes on intermittently showing a low catalyst efficiency...could be a leak but will likely need a converter. The front brakes could use replacement and the driver's front CV boot is torn. This is obviously not a good choice for daily transportation, but would make a nice project or parts car. As I mentioned above, it drives well now, but I have no way of knowing for how long. I would recommend towing it home (on a trailer due to the AWD). I have a clear NJ title in hand.
