Vehicle Detail
1984 BMW R 65... 59,645 miles... This unit is/was part of a collection which is being dismantled, due to the owners bad health and subsequent passing. Although it has been properly stored with an empty fuel tank in a tight and dry indoor space, it has not been started in at least 5 years, so please bid accordingly. In giving it a visual "once over" it doesn't appear to be missing any parts or pieces, ie: it seems to be complete. The tank is in pretty good shape, and shows relatively little wear, save for a "dime" sized indentation on the top at the lower left, where the tank and the saddle meet. The saddle is an older Corbin re-wrap and has two minor stress separations near the seaming, one on either side. The switches seem to be intact, but since the battery is dead, it is unknown whether they would all function properly. The ignition area and the instrument cluster appear clean and in good shape. The headlight ring has one tiny ding. The body work, overall, is in good shape, and what few chrome bits there are, appear mostly clean and certainly very serviceable. The tires appear better than fair, but are no doubt old, so be be advised. The steering head bearing is super stiff, and would probably have to be changed out. When depressing the clutch lever, there seems to be plenty of spring. The brakes seem fair, and the rims straight. The fork tube rubbers are shredded, but judging by the material, it seems they were somewhat flimsy to begin with. The tool kit and the book are missing. Overall, there is a general patina of age and use, but all things considered, it really isn't in bad shape at all. Certainly an excellent source for parts, but more importantly, an excellent candidate for restoration. A little bit of time, and a couple of bucks would probably get it up and running. The sale goes forward with a bill of sale only. No title exists. This unit was purchased out of state, and was never registered or titled in Ca. Evidently, the old guy ran it around with a floater plate due to having so many bikes. This sale goes forward AS-IS, WHERE-IS, with no guarantees or warranties either expressed or implied. The shipping is the sole responsibility of the buyer. I would, however, be most happy to help coordinate shipping logistics for pick up on this end. Thanks for looking, and have a nice day.
