Vehicle Detail
This car is an exceptional specimen of what I consider to be one of the best production cars ever produced. I bought my first Mercedes Diesel in 1979 and have owned 5 of them since then. My daily driver is a pristine 84 300 CD. When my daughter came for an 8 month visit from her home overseas and needed a car for her time in the States, I knew what to look for and was very fortunate to find her this car. It had obviously been very well maintained and in exceptional condition. The first thing I did was have my mechanic insure it was safe and mechanically sound. We replaced the air conditioner compressor and the starter, installed a new lower control arm and transmission linkage bushings. That is all it needed, and off she went. I had no hesitation with my daughter driving it all over the Western US. The car is in great condition, but at 29 years old, it is not perfect, but pretty close. The interior is original, very nice, and shows very little wear. The zebrano wood trim is also very nice. It still has the original Becker radio in perfect working condition. Even the retracting automatic antenna works; I have not tested the cassette player. The dash looks great; in fact, I have never seen a dash on one of these cars that was better, the only imperfections are very minor cracks around the perimeter areas. The exterior is awesome for a car this old, but again, it is not perfect. You will find minor nicks and dings, but as you see from the pictures, there is nothing major and it shows very nicely. It appears that at some point, the driver's side front fender has been repainted. It runs better than most 300 Ds I have driven. It is very strong, smooth, and responsive. It has served us well, and with my daughter returning overseas, it now time to pass this fine car to the next owner. I am also advertising the car locally and reserve the right to end the auction early.
