See my YouTube video on this car at www.youtube.com/watch?v=-22FBtdbeT4 and the chassis at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zh_68jB_HkM Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE and folder of information at https://www.box.com/s/xczv6tomiaug3jhacqty All the documentation on the car including the 64 pages of service history from initial order to last week's upgrades are online at the box.com link. The YouTube videos don't always seem to load on eBay... not sure why so you may have to copy and paste... sorry about that. This is a second listing for this car. I put the reserve at $12K but the highest bid was at $10.6K so I've relisted without a reserve this time, and only for three days. I’ve owned this car since birth in 1998. After I purchased it I didn’t think it had enough power at 240 horses. After a lot of research including wasting my money on a Dinan chip upgrade I made an onsite visit to Active Autowerk in Miami and was impressed with what I saw, and drove. In August 1999 I shipped the car to Active for a power, suspension, and braking upgrade. Active (see invoice) added a turbocharger with stage 2 intercooler, waste gate, upgraded suspension, lowering the car by 4cm, installed AP racing brakes, and a high performance clutch, aluminum flywheel, high flow exhaust and a stiffer sway bar. It came back from them at 448 horsepower, almost twice it’s former power and more than enough for a thrilling ride. The brakes stopped it just fine as well. There’s something strangely fun blowing away bikes with this package ! Best of all it drives like an everyday car all the time just one with ridiculous amounts of power on tap whenever you want it. This car has always been a second car for me, averaging less than 3,000 miles per year. I love my M3, but have decided that at 12 years of age it’s time to move on to newer things, especially as my 16 year old becomes a driver, and my wife complains more! The car has been maintained by dealerships near Boston for its entire life and all service records are with the car. It’s not been raced or mishandled, or been in more than a fender bender of an accident, which it’s had a couple of. At the beginning of 2006 I sent it back to Active for a complete refurbishment. The primary reason was that when it was initially upgraded in 1998 it wasn’t fully OBDII compliant. Active replaced the wiring harness with a new one they’d engineered in 2002 which was OBD II compliant so the car is now fully compliant and it passes it’s inspection fine. The complete list of upgrades and replacements made in April 2006 is listed in one of the documents on the site shown below. Additional work was done in November 2012 to prepare for sale. This car is sweet! At the same time they did that I had them replace all the rubber on the engine, water pump, brake rotors etc. All the hoses are six years and 5,000 miles old! I also had them install an aluminum radiator on their recommendation although I don’t drive the car on the turbo enough to make it hot enough to need it. The car has been a toy for me so I’ve kept tinkering with it from time to time. The 2006 upgrade is documented and was $7,000 and I notice at only 31,000 miles. I performed a compression test at the same time, and all cylinders are in spec at 140, 150, 150, 145, 147, and 150. Recently one of my coil springs broke so I’ve replaced both entire strut assemblies with new KW Automotiv Variant 2 struts and springs. Everything has always been fully maintained on this car and it’s always performed fantastically. It still does and will for you. The engine and all turbo and mechanical systems are in great shape. The body is in great shape, the color is original and has not been sprayed and I've always repaired dings immediately. There are a few minor scuffs on the passenger side, which aren’t really noticeable unless you’re up close. The pictures tend to make it look worse that it is. The audio system is new with bluetooth phone and audio I’ve replaced the steering box on one occasion, and front sway bar clips a couple of times. In November 2012 I had new sway bar brackets installed and welded to provide additional strengthening. I spent about $6K bringing everything back up to spec including a new glove box cover and cosmetic knobs etc. You should generally expect standard maintenance costs for the car as the additional parts really don’t require maintenance. Given the recent replacement of hoses, all those should be good for years. I’ve kept the car in new condition, rather than used condition so you should benefit well from this level of care. The pictures were taken in June this year. November video is on the youtube site which is much more comprehensive. For further information and to get the docs you can call me at 267-312-4500. Alan.
