Vehicle Detail
Selling my 1972 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme. I wasn't planning on selling this car but due to a new business venture I figure selling it to raise some extra money may be in my best interest. I purchased the car this spring with intentions of restoring it eventually, however I have other convertible projects so this one took the back burner. When I purchased the car it had been sitting for over 20 years and it did not run. The tank and lines were blown out, carburetor was professionally rebuilt, changed the plugs, swapped the distributor out for an electronic HEI unit with a new pickup module and coil, installed an in-line fuel filter, now she was running! We discovered why the car was probably parked so many years ago, the transmission was slipping, had it professionally rebuilt, now she was rolling! Replaced the master cylinder, both front calipers, both rear wheel cylinders, turned both front rotors and both rear drums, new brake pads, new brake shoes, new inner and outer wheel bearings on both sides and replaced all brake hardware, now she was stopping! Tires on the original 14" wheels are dry rotten bias ply tires and are included in this sale if you want them, to move it around we put on a set of 15" aluminum wheels and tires and they are a little too big, fronts rub when turning deep, but she drives great! Loaded with all the factory options: Automatic transmission, bucket seats, console, floor shifter, power disc brakes, power steering, power top, power windows, A/C, and premium oldsmobile wheels. Car has it's original 350 rocket V8 engine and original rebuilt automatic 350 transmission, car is showing 35k miles and though I'd love to say original, who are we kidding, I'd guess at least 135K wouldn't you? The car does run, ride, and drive nice, and it stops great. Mechanically the car is in very good shape! The engine is dirty but it is strong, could be cleaned and detailed and driven for many years of enjoyment, it has no ticks, or sounds of any kind, no smoking or oil burning. there is no belt on the A/C compressor, I never tried installing one, the A/C system is complete with the exception of the belt. The worst of the car you can see in the photos, it needs a new convertible top, they're pretty inexpensive, new seat covers, the seats themselves are sturdy but need covered, new carpet of course, and if you go that far you will want to replace the door panels as well. The dash is in very good condition, it has an old aftermarket radio but I don't think the dash has been altered to do it, and the glove box liner needs to be replaced. All glass is good in the car, it has an internal antenna in the windshield, the side windows are power, and they all work. Now for the body, this car has great floor pans! The best that I have ever seen on a convertible A body of this vintage, they almost appear galvanized! The trunk pan is solid as well with a little rust but nothing that will require any pan replacement. The worst of the body is both rear quarter panels, I would replace both of them with full convertible quarters, then you will have a nice solid old oldsmobile! You could get by with quarter patches, especially on the drivers side but if I were fixing this car I would install full quarters and never have to worry about the body again. This car has been painted before, a long time ago I'm guessing, at that time the trunk lid was replaced from a green car and it was not painted underneath, there's no bubbles beneath the paint anywhere. One of the things I really liked about the car is the colors, Sunburst Orange with white interior and white top. The bumpers on this old car are straight but they have surface rust and will need replated or replaced. This is a good old car and can be driven and worked on to whatever level you would like to take her. I have a clean clear title in hand and will help you load it or stand there and watch as you drive her away. All lights and everything work on this car, even the key buzzer! The original distributor, coil, wheels, and air cleaner are included. Please ask any questions prior to bidding.
