Here we have a 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 Quad Sport with 168,000 miles, 5.9L auto, pw, pl. a/c, cruise, 4X4, 4 door, sliding rear window, 6 foot box. This truck is extremely solid for its age, there is rocker panel rust starting, some on the fenders and tail gate, but the frame, springs, shackles, and the rest of the underneath is very clean. The tranny was just serviced with a new filter and fluid, it has a new alternator, and the biggest thing I just did to it was put a new transfer case in it because the chain was slipping on the old one. The model number is a 231 D, I replaced it with the same exact model number and gear ratio, I also put fresh fluid in it (ATF 4) with what the maual calls for. The transmission shifts perfect and 4WD works great. While the 5.9 isn't the most gas friendly thing on earth, it would pull a house if it was on wheels, so you won't have a problem with power. It has the towing package with a class 3 hitch. Also has bed liner and tool box, which isn't worth much, it is plastic and doesn't lock. Please follow the link to a recent (12/8/12) KBB value.
