Vehicle Detail
charvetmagic store 1941 Cadillac Series 62 Convertible Sedan. Classic Car Club of America National First Place Award Winner!1941 brought a new look to Cadillac. With a wide chromed grille and headlights integrated into the fenders, it set a style that would continue through the 1950's. But 1941 also marked the end of an era. It was the last year of production for the sumptuous four-door Convertible Sedan model. Just 400 were built in 1941 and few remain today. This is one of those special Cadillacs. While the early history of this particular car has been lost to time, it is known that it was a solid original that was acquired and restored about 20 years ago by a collector in the Northeast U.S. Everything was done to bring the car to the highest level of quality in appearance and mechanicals. No corners were cut and no dollars were spared. The time and money paid off as the car received a First Place award in National judging by the Classic Car Club of America, with badge #2664, which it wears today with pride. Over the following years the car was enjoyed and toured. It was later purchased by a prominent collector in the Pacific Northwest who is now making it available. The restoration has held beautifully over the years and was recently refreshed with new paint on the hood and front fenders, matching the original. The paint on the car has an overall deep shine and being black, shows wonderfully to the most critical eye. All panels are straight. Doors close solidly. Glass is excellent. The Haartz cloth top was replaced in black with deep oxblood red piping, which compliments the recently refreshed oxblood red leather interior. With the top up or down, it is a strikingly elegant car. The chrome plating is excellent overall, especially the grille and cast trim which are beautiful with none of the pitting usually found on many of these cars. It was also fitted with a set of chromed Eldorado wire wheels and period bias-ply wide whitewall tires, which really compliment the car. For the purist, the original stock Vincennes Red disc wheels and tires with original show-quality hubcaps will also be included in this sale. Mechanically, the car is first-rate. The engine, which we are told was rebuilt by the previous owner, runs perfectly. I have personally owned four 1941 Cadillacs over the years and driven them thousands of miles. I am well acquainted with how they should behave. I have had the pleasure of drivng this car over 50 miles in both stop-and-go city traffic (in near 90 degree weather) as well as on the freeway and country roads. It is among the best I have driven. The car runs smooth and strong with no smoke, noises or issues. Strong oil pressure of 45 pounds. Plenty of power on hills and for passing. The engine is completely stock (346 c.i. 150 h.p flathead V-8) and idles near-silently. The bulletproof 3-speed manual transmission shifts smoothly. All gauges work and register accurately. The car runs cool and does not overheat (even in the above-mentioned stop-and-go traffic on a very hot day.) Accessories include a Cadillac Fresh Air Heater and Defroster which work well, Cadillac crest rear-view mirrors and an auxiliary electric fuel pump. Clock is correct twice a day. No radio was installed, although they are available from several sources, should you desire to add one. Please see the photos for a current look at this car. It turns heads wherever it goes. For an evening on the town, a day in the country, or participating in events and tours with the CCCA or Cadillac-LaSalle Club, this car would be welcome anywhere.A realistic reserve has been placed on the car, considering its quality and rarity.
