Vehicle Detail

For Sale:1997 Subaru Legacy Outback AWD~168K miles, 5 spd manual transmission, 2.5L 4 Cylinder gets 25/30 MPGnew Goodyear Fuel Assurance Tires at 130K (Picture) new rear pads at 150K, new radiator at 145K Car is working, but has some problems. Neither my wife or I want to go through the trouble of fixing it up. The car is located in Fairview Heights, IL. I would expect it is possible to drive this away after purchase IF you are only going with in about 100 mile radius. After that initial 100 miles, I'm not sure how the overheating issue (discussed below) would complicate driving it further. ~~~If you are looking outside of St. Louis area, I would suggest planning to tow the car~~~ -I was able to routinely drive this car all of 2012 between Champaign, IL and St. Louis up until about a month ago. -The engine runs well and consistently gets good gas milage. -AWD works great for rain and snow. -Clutch is in good shape -- no slips. What's Wrong: Car is overheating. Not sure exactly what is wrong with it. I did replace the radiator last fall. Car suffered from intermittent temp spikes January -- March 2012, but all through the summer and fall there was no issue. About three weeks ago, trying to drive from St. Louis to Champaign, Illinois, car was overheating quite badly and decided not to proceed with it on the trip any longer. When I came back to the St. Louis area, I drove the car back into the metro-area (~100 miles) from where I left it and had only slight temp spikes, but was perfectly fine to driving. -From what I have found online, there is a well documented and explained issue with the head-gaskets on this vehicle. I suppose they have gone bad and need to be replaced. -Catalytic converters are bad (Also well documented and explained online for these years). My mechanic quoted me at about $1500 for the repair when the radiator was replaced. I did not choose to have this done.-Driver side mirror was knocked off and reattached with some screws (Picture) -- it holds fine now, but no longer powered or have defrost capability. -Parking brake lever in car is inoperable -- button on it broke off. (Picture)-CD player on radio does not play CDs, but AM/FM works fine.-Seat heater in driver's seat does not work -- passenger's works fine.-Rubber cover on brake pedal came off.-Some small and difficult to notice dents on hood.-Little bit of rust on passenger side rear wheel well.
