The car was purchased new right here in Altoona, PA at Condrin Olds-Cadillac in July 1973. It has a little over 45,400 ORIGINAL miles, which is documented on the title. This beauty has been pampered since new. It belonged to my mother’s 5th Grade teacher who recently passed away at 99 years old. She was never married and was a local icon as a teacher. I believe this was the last new car she owned. According to her neighbor she always had it serviced at the Condrin Oldsmobile dealership. I have the original sales invoice and a copy of the original title. Included are all the original owner’s manuals and the plastic holder they came in. This is a very comfortable car and drives very nice. It has the famous big block Olds 455 - 4 barrel and lots of power. The car runs and drives very nice and gets plenty of looks. The car tracks straight and brakes don’t pull…and rides nice and smooth. The steering is tight and all suspension is in good order. Get in and drive anywhere! Car also comes with both shop manuals. Exterior: The exterior is in VERY GOOD condition…the color is a very pretty light yellow with a green vinyl top. The condition reflects the fact it was garage kept since day one. The chrome and the bright work still shine brilliantly, including the paint. The vinyl top is almost perfect without rips, fading, or frays. The car had some paint work done in a number of places, likely due to scrapes, because there is no evidence of any major accidents. There is no evidence of any rust repair anywhere except for the fender skirts. The body is laser straight, with only a very small amount of filler in a small section of the front fender and very small section behind the door, just above the rocker panel. I believe these were old repairs to fix minor dents. To be fair and honest there is some mismatching of the shade in certain areas. The paint work itself is nice…but the dealership should have done a better job of matching the colors. This same dealership performed work on my parents’ yellow 72 Olds Cutlass back in the mid-70’s (which we still have!) and also has a similar mismatch. Regardless, the finish is shiny and has a nice luster and is more than adequate as-is unless you are looking for a 100-point, concours Barrett-Jackson quality. Bear in mind, some of the camera shots have some color variation between pictures due to the camera itself. The original vinyl top is like brand new and has almost no bubbling underneath the vinyl (there are a couple very small spots which you have to really look close to find). The undercarriage is very solid and only has “surface scale”. Frame and floor pans are extremely solid. Chrome still shines very nice and very presentable. The only imperfections in the chrome I could see wearing thin is mainly underneath the rear bumper, which angles downward and is not very noticeable. There are a few marks here and there on the paint and chrome, but nothing major that sticks out. There are some scratches which have been touched up on the bottom of the passenger door, likely due to a bicycle pedal. It is a very nice car for its age. There is no rust to speak of on the body, other than a very small surface spot behind the driver’s front wheel opening. It is difficult to see because of the downward angle of the fender (see pictures). There is also a small bubble on the same fender directly above the wheel opening, but has not broken through the surface (again, see picture). Underneath the doors and trunk lid are solid and in great shape. If I were to keep the car, I’d replace both plastic fillers in the rear, which are available from Replica Plastics for $59.00/piece. I have many more pictures of the car (including the frame/underbody) which I can email upon request. Overall, the exterior is in very good condition. Even all 4 headlights are 100% factory original! Interior: The interior is stunning…..almost perfect. It is 100% original and very clean. It is like stepping back into 1973 again. It even smells brand new. The only noticeable imperfection is a stain from the heater core that leaked coolant onto the passenger side carpet (of course the heater core has since been replaced). The seats feel, look, and smell brand new….they are very comfortable and clean. The door panels and armrests are still in great shape too. The dash pad is in great shape without any cracks. The trunk is also clean and very original. It includes the original jack too. Headliner is also like perfect. Mechanical: The following was done recently: -New oil change, filter & lube -Tune up, including new spark plugs (the old ones appear to be the original ones!) -New brake pads in the front -New belts -New heater core -Fresh coolant and new thermostat As stated previously, the car runs beautifully and has lots of power. The engine and Turbo-Hydramatic 400 transmission are smooth as silk with no odd noises. Engine does NOT use any oil, to my knowledge. The transmission fluid is likely original, but still pink! There are no major leaks to speak of underneath the car. I am selling this because I just bought another classic very similar to my first car in high school, and I just don’t have the room. This will make a great vehicle for the next car enthusiast. The car tracks straight, steering is tight, and brakes are silk smooth. Please note, however, the A/C is not working. The automatic climate control system works great, though! Overall: If you are looking for a great example of a beautiful, solid, reliable, very clean classic Olds 98 in great shape, this one’s for you. It runs and drives nicely and will make a very nice classic for you. Drive it and take it to the show! I get compliments everywhere it goes. I have sold several cars on eBay and in all situations had positive feedback. I attempt to describe each vehicle as accurately and honestly as possible and I do not think you will be disappointed.
