Vehicle Detail
I've owned this car for 15 years and I have know it since the late '70's. It was sold new in Rochester New York in December 1941 and was purchased by an Italian Count Riccio and shipped to Italy where it remained until the early '70's. It then went to two collectors and then I bought it in 1996. I believe it's been painted once years ago and the upholstery and carpets were (maybe) redone in the '70's. I had the front seat bottom done as it was worn through and the new cloth is close but not an exact match. The original cloth comes with the car. At purchase I did the brakes, rebuilt the front end including having all 4 shocks rebushed at a cost of $600.00, new exhaust, Coker tires, radiator, themostat and heater core and all hoses. I rebuilt the carb, replaced the intake/ehaust manifold gaskets, found the correct steel tipped plug wires, rebuilt the distributor and replaced the coil with a NOS replacement part. I added an electric fuel pump to prime the carb and replaced the battery and fan belt. Everything works except the vacuum antenna and the radio. I was told the radio needs an exciter tube and I do have one. The gas gauge fluctuates but does function. I use the trip meter and fill it every 150 miles. The body has some cracking in the paint and a small dent in the right rear fender. All chrome and rubber is good. The hood springs are a bit weak but I did repalce the pivots with hardened custom made bolts. The frame is excellent and all motor and trans mounts are good. I pulled the driveshaft years ago the check ujoints and they're fine. The mounts that go from the frame out to the rocker panels show some minor rust but nothing of major consequence. I did paint the whole underside with Eastwood Rust Encapsulator some 10 years ago and it still looks good. It is not where I can photograph the underside. I have loads of spares including instruments, hoses and more stuff than I can remember. Whenever I'd see a part I didn't have I bought it. Selling because I haven't used it in 4 years other than to fire it up and run it around the block. This is a nicely preserved hard to find fastback Cadillac. I don't need to sell it but I'd like to see it get used and enjoyed. I ddon't disclose reserves and that takes the fun out of the auction. The chrome is all good and the pot metal has some small zits but is overall presentable. The glass is good with some minor discoloration around the outermost edges. The outside drivers door handle is a bit loose and being afraid to damage the interior panel I've never bothered to fix it. This is the last listing. We got close to the reserve but didn't quite make it so i've lowered the reserve a bit. I will provide export paperwork to out of the USA buyers. Good Luck. Pete. On Nov-17-12 at 09:59:55 PST, seller added the following information: The VIN tag says "6127". I listed as an "S" for standard not as a "D" for deluxe. On Nov-20-12 at 09:50:14 PST, seller added the following information: 11-20-12 After a family discussion we decided to lower the reserve so this wonderful old car will most certainly go to a new home. The current bid of $17250.00 is very close. Thanks, Pete
