This is a complete, rare original top of the line 1956 Pontiac Star Chief. It was recently found in a barn here in Northern California, parked in the early 80s . It shows a straight body with alot of minor surface rust. The stainless, bumpers, glass, interior and mechanical are all in place and in very useable condition. Not shown in the pictures but included with this auction are the air cleaner, radio, factory stainless wheel skirts, four hub caps, spare and jack. Some restoration work has been started already. We pulled and cleaned the fuel system including the tank and lines, replaced the fuel pump and rebuilt the carburater. The cooling system was flushed completely and the water pump was replaced with new. The water lines were replaced including all the hoses and belts at that time. The radiator will likely require a recore as the flow is very restricted. The original 317 started right up willingly after a 27 year park and seems strong with good compression. In the glove box was a receipt for a complete transmission rebuild some 80 miles away from when it was parked. The transmission is functioning properly in Park and shifts well through the forward gears. Reverse is not working at this time and were in hopes its the linkage. Rear end and all suspension is all intact and functioning properly. The entire brake system has been rebuilt -New master cylinder, wheel cylinders, shoes, springs and turned all four drums, its bled and working well. Original wiring harness is in place and for the most part is functioning properly and is likely serviceable - Car includes the original KEYS! The exhaust system was patched upand new mufflers were installed. The interior is all original and other then carpet totally complete. The build code on the firewall called out for the high end "leather" option. It also calls out for the exterior paint code KK which is Cirrus Grey on Cirrus Grey which is a really rare non two tone combination and likely a "special order". The frame and undercarriage look to be accident and rust free. The exterior body is solid showing rust only in the bottom lip of the trunk lid and a couple other small areas in the lower front fenders. Trunk, floorpan and rockers are all good. Car is sold where is as is with no warranty - please ask questions and we can supply you with answers - including photo and video as needed so your confident of what your bidding on .
