Vehicle Detail

Need to make room for an arriving project. Opening bid is the reserve, so, bid to win..Prefer Cash on pick up or postal money order but paypal will do Not included in this sale is: kermet, front hubs or rear heater... i will include an old set of warn hubs.. This is a 50 1/2 or 51 body (with mostly original paint, including the pin stripes in the raised beading under the side windows) sitting on a 58 chassis.. titled as a 58. I have both vin plates so you could probably apply for the earlier title. Daily driver. Goes down the road very well, with no issues and is fun to drive. Been on the road for a bit over 2 years with no problems..i used it for work every day, loaded with a full compliment of carpentry tools. hour each way Currently registered and insured.. inspection is overdue, mostly because of laziness.. Hanger bearing recently started clunking after 2 years on the road(it was used, but good when i put it in) have a new one Motor is from an 85 300d that had 200,000 mils on it. Runs good, no smoke, good oil pressure when i put it in. I don't have oil gauge hooked up now. I tested it with a temporary when i first started the unit. I grafted the mercedes cross member/engine support to a set of beefed up willys motor mount perches, (which bolts to current chassis).. This way i could use the stock mercedes motor mounts and engine shocks, which were installed new at time of assembly. I also used the mercedes accelerator pedal and linkage as they are rubber mounted to keep engine vibration from the drivers foot, which it does. I had to graft in a section of the benze firewall into the willys in order to make that happen, and it works well. ALSO NEW at time of maiden voyage(over 2 years ago): windhield glass and rubber, sliding glass rubber and tracks etc, willys repro wire harness, repro brake lights, all brake components (including lines and hoses), all belts and hoses, valve cover gasket ,rebuilt wiper motor(electric ones are for girls!),gm alternator, radiator, oil pressure line to cooler, pitman arm, tie rods, u joints, tires (on 16" truck rims), rebuilt steering box, battery. willys america door panels and firewall insulation, heater core cleaned and tested and heater media blasted and painted correct color....etc, etc . The leaf springs are also willys america items, but they look a little older since they were mounted to a rolling chassis i was working on and saw a lot of weather. But they were unused when i put them on this vehicle. motor uses all stock mercedes hoses in stock locations. i never got around to the final touches of securing all the engine compartment wires and hoses in pretty fashion. The radiator overflow tank is just sitting there, but it has stayed put for two years, with the help of a zip tie. i intended for the benze tranny to be a temporary so i didn't bothe making the tranny mounts an hanger bearing crossmember pretty..but they are solid and could be left as is. as i was gonna install an sm420 via an adapter made by 4x4LABS to mate the chevy to the diesel, but never got around to it. I didn't bother running vacuum to the tranny. i shift it manually and it works fine that way. RUST: i had the front floors, rockers, quarters, and tailgate support professionally replaced several years ago. (I had originally intended to repaint the jeep and intended to have it stripped to bare metal first, so, i never bondo-ed the seam along the top of the new quarters).. The tailgate support has since rotted out along it's bottom (see pics) but the gate works perfectly. All the other repairs are doing well. the only other serious area is above the passenger door and sliding windows . About a 2' section of the rain gutter has rusted away from the side of the vehicle, makeing the roof not attached in that area. hard to show in the pics. there is a little bit of rust in the front cab corners just above the fender step(see pics).. see tailgate pics for rust at inside bottom. upper tailgate has some small rust holes at bottom of one of the glass. some surface rust on inside of front floors where matts collected moisture. i installed a 2" body lift at time of assembly so i didn't have to cut up the nice floors... that, and i like the look of the early style low tranny tunnel. I made up any height i needed by making the stock transmission cover taller...I hoped i could keep the inside looking stock-ish, by doing so. MISC:it's a diesel... when the motor is cold it shakes at idle, so, new window weather striping and anti rattle rubber is a good idea. I had wanted to make a throttle control so i could raise the idle when cold, as that clears up the shake, but never got to it. I just weight the accelerator with my foot till it warms up.... wiper motor is getting weak but works as long as the windshield is wet, just sayin..... only the fuel guage works at present and the fresh air intake is just held on in solid but ungainly fashion.. oil pan will need to be reshaped if you are gonna go bouncing around off road.Or at the very least the front springs could use bumpers to control the travel. because of rain gutter issue there is some leaks when it rains..needs tailgate handle, doors keyed the same but i can't find the keys. air cleaner box needs new rubber/steel hold downs, hence the bungee On Oct-15-12 at 15:22:57 PDT, seller added the following information: if winning bidder is interested, i will include a set of scout II axles with 3:07 gears which i had planned to install. And some new brake parts for the axles, as well.
