The correct number of owners is THREE. As far as I can tell, all three have been local to the Northern VA area: specifically Reston and Herndon. The previous owner sold it to my long-time independent Volvo shop who in turn sold it to me in January 2011. I have a couple of repair orders from that owner showing the timing belt, etc. service. My Volvo shop installed the newer transmission before I bought the car. Also, there is a Recall letter from Volvo Cars North America stating that certain versions of the fuel pump on S80, S60, V70, XC, XC90, etc., vehicles should be inspected for wear that might lead to fuel seepage. That said, Volvo North America does not specify exactly which fuel pumps might be affected. Naturally concerned, I asked my independent Volvo shop about this. They stated I would notice the check engine light come on before the situation would warrant such an inspection. To date, I have never had a check engine light come on for my XC. Nor I have noticed any fuel smell or fuel seepage. With the right deal, I would be willing to have my shop run the car over to Don Beyer and have them perform the inspection. Worst case, Volvo will pay for removal and replacement of the fuel pump regardless of who owns the car. Thought you would like to know this. ****
