For all the Chevy K5 fans out there: Take a look at this gem I pulled out of the time machine! A spectacular and very well cared for black 1979 400ci Chevy Blazer Cheyenne 4x4. As CLOSE to completely unmolested and unrestored as they ever will come. The odometer reads 49,145 miles and after looking her over, discovering how clean she is, taking her for a drive and seeing how smooth she runs, I can honestly say I think it's really true. Unbelievably, this blazer still has the original window sticker and build sheets. I also have the original key punches! In the glove box I found the Owners Manual with reports of maintenance with dates all through her years of use. Truly what a treasure and amazing find!! When the blazer was new, it was used by an Alabama couple and eventually spent all of its time at the North Carolina lake house they owned. It was used to shuttle the family around town and to trailer their sailboat to and from the lake. When discovered in late 2011, the K5 had been in that same garage preserved like in a cocoon since 1992. All she needed was the regular TLC any vehicle needs when sitting for some time. Gas tank cleaned, new master cylinder, sway bar bushings, water pump, fuel pump, changed all the fluids, and completely cleaned and rebuilt the carb. I also had them do the plugs and wires since the carb was getting dialed in. Everything was thoroughly gone over and all that needed attention was done by professionals. I would feel completely confident jumping in and driving her across country and back in a heartbeat! This blazer runs and shifts smoothly and correctly. The legendary 400ci engine, which was last manufactured in 1979, is in excellent condition and was very well cared for and maintained. Also, last manufactured in 1979, was the famous grille with round head lights. The air conditioning is ICE COLD, as it should be. Everything works correctly and as it should. There is NO RUST on this blazer and MINOR surface rust that any vehicle will have. 1979 is popularly argued to be the best year for the K5 Blazer and this one is by far as good as they come. I personally love the chrome grille package, which tells me the original owner was willing to dole out the extra bucks (proof is on the window sticker) to make his truck special and customized. The oversized 31 gallon fuel tank option he chose will also be nice if you want to take her on a long road trip. Surprisingly, the 400ci is really very efficient and good on gas! 1979 was right there in the gas crunch, so not many blazers with the glorious 400ci engine were even ever produced. Finding a blazer with this 400ci is a complete rarity and the holy grail of a find alone. For it to be so unmolested, with no rust and the Cheyenne package, it's one in a million! I would without hesitation give this truck a 9 out of 10, 10 being perfect. Now with that being said, I do want to make a point and say this truck is NOT perfect. Overall, she sure is close, but was also used as a regular vehicle and has evidence of road use, parked in the hot sun at the lake etc. The front seats show some sun fade and driver's seat has a small tear, as shown in the photo. She has some small nicks, dings and scratches. None that are alarming or jump out at you, but if nit picked they can be found. If you were in the market to make this truck a 10 out of 10, this is a perfect candidate and can be done VERY easily.
