Vehicle Detail

Up for sale is my 1968 Firbird 400 with a RAM AIR II System. I’m not in a rush to sell the car but just don’t have the time for the car with me working 2 jobs. Not like its cousin the Camaro, you don’t see these cars around anymore. With Pontiac gone these cars are even more of a rarity. When the car was first introduced in 1967, it was priced $200 more then the Camaro’s because the firebird was equip with an optional bigger engine, better interior and wide track rear suspension. The firebird was also known as the “Camaro Deluxe,” it shared the same body lines but has a more aggressive appearance in my opinion with its fancy bumper, unique taillights and GTO style hood. I believe this is one of a kind due to the custom digital dash that's inside a unique and very clean custom upholstery. It’s black with red pipings to match the exterior of the car. The red piping's are also embedded at both rear pillars. The cluster and center console was replaced with a smooth glossy carbon fiber pattern mold which makes the car stand out from the crowd. The 3 2 1/6 gauges are not hooked up due to time but connections and wiring are still in original packaging which I will include. The Dakota Dash was done with the rebuild and has less then 600 miles on the gauge. This was my daily driver before the rebuild and now still uses it at least twice a month to go to work and to cruse around town. Folks I get tons of compliments on the upholstery alone and how clean it’s done. This firebird has 18 x 8 in the front and 18 x 9.5 in the rear. Not to small and not ridiculously big for the car making this bird tasteful for both young and old not to mention STAGGERED for a mean stance. No heater or AC, this car was on its road to pro touring and was my weekend car but again don't have the time. The front speakers work but no radio was installed, due to a custom center console that was never started. I wanted the car to look like a classic but surprises you with modern car technology. I suggest to have the car looked at in person for the pictures don't do it justice. In the links provided you will see pictures of 2 flaws, a small scratch on the hood and a rock chip located on the driver side rear well measures smaller then my thumbnail. I took the pictures inside the garage to even see the scratches because it’s hard to see it in sunlight. The paint is driver quality but very glossy and shiny. Doesn't take much to make it show quality being 8 out of 10. I have receipts for all the work and will include it when sold also a box of misc items that was for the car will also be included. I will answer all questions the most I can and any video request I will consider. I don't have a camcorder but can use my camera which can make short mpeg videos. PLEASE look at the videos and pictures in the links below. Buyer is responsible for shipping and fees but again will do as much as I can for a smooth transaction. There is no Warranty and car is sold as is. I will ONLY release the car and Title once all funds are cleared. I am Paypal preferred but you can also see my feedback under "babycruz06." I made a new account so the boss (wife) wont get the funds.:) You can reach me at 650-255-4874 for any questions. The amount of attention this bird gets is unreal, I almost feel like a celebrity. Thank you for looking and Happy Bidding! 68 Firebird Facts:Pontiac's F-Body engineering was shared with the Camaro, including the basic body shell. While the F-Body was a unibody design, it also utilized a separate front subframe that attached to the body beneath the cowl and beneath the front seats. To achieve the famous "Pontiac Wide Track," Delorean directed that each Firebird, regardless of engine, be equipped with 6" wide rims and E70-40 Wide Oval tires. That brought the rear track to 59" and the front to 60". Pontiac chose a sophisticated approach to the F-Body's ride and handling. To emphasize the car's width and improve cornering, the suspension was slightly lower then that of the Camaro. The springs were slightly softer, and the shocks were valved somewhat tighter, making for a firm but pleasant ride. One of the benefits of bringing the Firebird to the market 6 months after the Camaro was the opportunity for Pontiac to learn from Chevrolet's engineering mistakes. One of the most significant of these was the Camaro's chronic rear-axle windup. Chevrolet used monoleaf rear springs with the shocks mounted ahead of the rear axle. Without any interleaf damping, the monoleaf spring literally allowed the rear axle to hop under hard acceleration. Chevrolet band-aided the problem with an "anti-windup bar," but it didn't solve the problem. Pontiac chose to install an adjustable radius rod on the right axle tube inboard of the spring on all models except those equipped with the base engine. On the high performance V-8 engine models, another rod was added to the left-hand tube. Pontiac also developed multi-leaf springs and staggered the location of the rear shocks; however, the revised rear geometry wasn't available until 68 production. For the 68 year, the firebird received refinements and tweaks. Most noticeable was the elimination of the vent windows, which were replaced be a flow-through ventilation system and side-marker lamps. The interior received new gauge faces and lenses, carpeting was added to the lower door panels, and a host of Federal safety mandates, such as additional dash panel padding, soft windshield pillar moldings and revised door armrests, as part of the interior package. The upholstery patterns were also different from the Camaro's with the Strato bucket seats received just a little more padding.
