Up for Auction is a 1979 Mercedes 300SD Turbo Diesel W116. This was the first S-Class Mercedes and 1979 was the first of two years this body style was imported to the US with the Turbo Diesel. The engine is very strong. It fires right up on the first turn every time. The Turbo spools up nicely, giving very solid acceleration. The transmission shifts smoothly with no hard shifting. The Mercedes was serviced At MBI Motors Inc. 500 miles ago, and received a new Started. The glow plugs were also tested and the week ones replaced. The engine oil was also changed at that time. I have the receipt for the work totaling $707.00. The battery was new on 06-2011. The tires all have about 95% tread remaining. The front brakes are about 75% remaining, and the rears about 50%. The A/C needs a charge. The sunroof works great, but the drivers window and rear right windows are currently not working. The drivers window switch might just need to be cleaned, and the rear window switch works, as you can hear the motor running. The tachometer is not functioning. The body is very straight. The clear coat is pealing on the top, but the sides look great. The interior is Black MB-Tex. which is a pretty rare color for the W116. The camel interior was more common. The upholstery is in great shape for its age, no gaping holes in the drivers side bolster like you normally find. The rear seat stuffing is deteriorated, a very common occurrence for this vintage of Mercedes. The flat part of the accelerator pedal is missing, but does not affect the function as the rod is plenty long to rest your foot on. See photo. Buyer is responsible for all shipping.
