Vehicle Detail
Contemporary Classic Cobra 427 SC. Serial # CCX33710. Moonlight Blue Metallic/Wimbledon White stripes. Built in 1994, by Richard Pickles, avid Cobra builder and racer. This very serpent was featured on magazine covers and featured stories on CCX33710. You can read about Contemporary and its unrivaled authenticity to the original, including a splendid round-tube chassis that indeed mimics the Shelby original. The drivetrain also closely follows the original 427SC. Under the hood: original cast-iron 1968 Ford 427FE sideoiler block bored 0.020" over (no sleeves). The engine was stroked to 468 cid and produces 575 horses, and is outfitted with: a 428 crank stroked to 4.125", mains 0.10" under, rod journals 2.2" Chevy big-block, requires machining bearings narrower, Eagle rods 6.8". 4.250" Wiseco pistons, Reed solid flat tappet cam, intake 250 ext, 259 @0.050, set lash at 0.012 and 0.014 cold, Dove roller rockers, Dove medium-riser heads with Manley valves, 11.0:1 compression. Ported RPM manifold, Barry Grant 950 cfm carburetor. Edelbrock aluminum water pump, Milodon 7 qt. oil pan, Aeromotive fuel pump, twin remote mounted oil filters, MSD 6AL ignition box, Mallorydistributor, Tilton hi-torque starter. Geartrain: Lakewoodbellhousing, Hayes aluminum flywheel, Ram HD clutch with 2800# long pressure plate, 4-speed Ford toploader with large input, Jag rear 3.31:1 with posi-traction. Spax shocks, inboard discs with Wilwood calipers. 15" Compomotive wheels. Sale includes a spare set ofTeam III 17" wheels with slicks. Full array of Smiths gauges. Fuel cell. This serpent drives and handles splendidly. It has logged 25,500 Miles. Please note that the car is located in Connecticut but is registered in NY as a 1966 Ford Convertible. The last picture is a view of the driver side casting of the lower end of the engine block. You can see the classic bump out ridge that evidences the "Side Oiler" 427. Many cobras have 427 badging on the body and may even have a 427 cubic inch Ford. But very very few of them are authentic Side Oilers. Most of the 427s were center oiler or top oilers. This is the real deal. This car has the identical driver train and running gear as the original. This is my 4th cobra. I've owned Superformances before this and this blue car is blindingly fast and handles very comfortably. The car has 25,500 miles which is tried and true and fully sorted out.On Sep-19-12 at 07:12:07 PDT, seller added the following information: There is a complete soft top for this car with all of the grommets installed for an easy (relatively) covering of the car if you want to drive in the rain. The car also has the hard plexiglass door windows that slide for ventilation. There is a heater and a defroster that work great. great with a adjustable fan speed. The windshield wipers, lights (hi/low) directionals, turn, tail, brakes, all electrical works pefectly. There is a scuff under the front spoiler that you need to have your face pressed to the ground in order to see, and the car also has the invicta shield on the front lower section and the flared fenders. There is also a more substantial roll bar that covers the driver with 2 down struts. This is black and can be seen in one of the photographs. The trunk is all aluminum sheet metal and very purposeful, no carpet, I'll add a few photos of the trunk later. The side pipes are perfect and coated with a ceremic coating. No barbeque paint on these bad boys. Often you see cobra photos that look great but after one ride, the paint on the pipes starts flaking. I have been on eBay for 10 years, with nearly 250 postive (100%) feedback. Bid with confidence. If you know Caffeine and Carburetors club in New Canaan Connecticut, you've probably seen me there. There is also a spare jaguary rear with extra half shafts. The other rear diff is a 354 which is a bit more of a set up for lower highway speeds. I can also post a video of the car, the sounds gets interrupted with a lot of wind noise but i think you'll get the idea. I don't want anyone to think I'm abusing my baby, but in this video I go full throttle and you'll see the speedo go from about 60 -130 pretty fast. Like i said, this car has power somewhere between street rod and nascar. Can be driven anywhere, in hot summer traffic or middle of the winter with no issues. I run pump hi test with Lucas additives for octane boost and ethynol stabilization (bottle of red, bottle of green). There is NO pinging, no valve tap, this motor is bullet-proof. The only challenge for some is that contemporary is an exacting copy of the original, which includes the big motor wedged into the frame and pushes the pedals offset to the driver's left. The pedal box is small, and the pedals are very close. If you are a big foot with size 13s, you need to go barefoot. I am about 5'10" with a size 9.5 foot, and i wear racing shoes and I have no troubles, but look up history on contemporary and you'll see it's mirrors the original. If i can think of anything else, or you have any questions, please send me your message via ebay. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j3ueic0IKyE On Sep-21-12 at 09:02:59 PDT, seller added the following information: This is a brief roll of the video capturing good audio of the idle. It looks fast even standing still.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uTeJSjScRlM
