Vehicle Detail
1977 Chevrolet El Camino Classic~1 Family owned for the last 35 years ~ All Original California Classic~Built in Fremont California~ Rare with 350 and 4 barrel~Collector Quality Up for bid is a rare California Barn find a 1977 Chevrolet El Camino this is a true California original having been built at the old Fremont General motors plant and was purchased new from a long gone East Bay Chevrolet dealership not far from where it was built. The senior owner was very proud of his El Camino Classic and kept it it in very nice shape from new until it was inheritied by his adult daughter. This 1977 was the last year of this classic design having the optional L-code 350 -4 barrel option which was replaced apx 30k miles ago with a new factory GM crate motor with the correct 350-4V not the 305. The engine fires right up and runs great. the Turbo Hydra-matic shifts smooth. I am sure it has been replaced but have no documentation. I was told the wheel bearings and axle seals in the rear end need to be replaced. It has been very well maintained and always garaged This car was his baby as it shows and has hardly been driven in the last few years. Cosmetically: this El Camino is in excellent condition. It's not that it's clean it's that it has never been dirty. The beautiful blue paint shines wonderfully and has never been in an accident. The vintage fiberglass custom tonneau cover cover is in flawless shape and is fully functional. It looks great and keeps what you have in the bed safe from the elements. All the chrome pieces are in great shape and have no pitting are discoloring, just a spotless shine. The classic 15 inch Rally wheels are in great shape as well with no major imperfections and the tires still have plenty of tread left on them, it even has a Rally wheels spare. These are the real deal from Chevrolet not reproductions including the original Center caps and trim rings. The dash has a few cracks and was covered with a custom carpet cover. The bench seat is near perfect except a small wear mark on the drivers side. The door panels are in nice shape as is the original carpeting. The drivers window crank works 50% of the time possibly in need of a new crank. The hedliner and visors are in real nice shape. It is clear this cr has spend more time inside than outside. Mechanically this El Camino is in great shape. Throughout it's 35 year lifetime it has been regularly maintained and it shows today. It was in storage for many years but has always been in the same family. The 350 V8 runs like a low miles engine should. The suspensions is tight and responsive, the brakes and shocks are fairly new. The only real issue that will need to be addresed is the rear end, it will need new wheel bearings and axle seals but other than that this car is ready for another 35 years. The air conditioning I was told has been converted to R134 not sure if it blows cold.
