Vehicle Detail

We are finally selling my favorite car in the world. It is one of those amazing diesel wagons which seat 7 and yet get 26 mpg! Though the car is a 1984 with almost 300,000 miles on it, it runs and runs and runs. We’ve had it 14 years, and the only time it left me stranded was one day when I couldn’t get the key to turn in the ignition (we replaced the tumbler after that). But that’s it: it runs. Here’s a list of what it would need to pass a Virginia inspection right now: Rear brake pads Reverse light lens (and maybe a reverse light) New windshield (it has a long crack in front of the passenger) And here’s a list of what it probably needs, in my inexpert opinion: New tires Heating vent work (not the heater: just the vents) Air conditioning compressor Two rear windows don’t move Repair of some small areas of rust (see pictures) The car was serviced regularly by a certified Mercedes-only shop, and has been loved, but also has been used! This is not a show-room quality car, but for a 28-year-old car which has been a family car, the condition is pretty darn good. It has the rear-facing back seat with two seatbelts. It has a sunroof which has NEVER leaked. Nothing leaks now, though a couple of years ago we had a leak around the windshield for a few weeks until we found and fixed it. This is one of those cars that is begging to be turned into a bio-diesel vehicle: a dream of mine I never was able to carry out. We’re only selling it now because we have two teenagers and horses: the teenagers don’t want to drive Mom’s yellow wagon, and the horses want to be towed places in their trailer, which is one of the few jobs the faithful yellow wagon can’t handle. I’m having a hard time letting go of this wonderful car, and I’m really hoping it will go to someone who will enjoy it as we have! The buyer will be responsible for picking up or shipping the car, and for paying in full within seven days of the close of this auction. On Sep-18-12 at 17:55:37 PDT, seller added the following information: Note that in the picture from the rear, the car appears to be touching the grass. This is an optical illusion! Look at the side pictures to see the height of the rear end from the ground. The car was not moved during the photo session!
