Vehicle Detail
Up for bid is a 1956 Ford Fairlane Club Sedan. It was restored and the engine rebuilt over twenty years ago and has been garage kept since then. It's painted in the original paint colors of Meadow Mist Green and Colonial White. All the chrome and stainless trim pieces are there and in good condition. All the buttons, knobs and switches are there and in good condition.....EXCEPT the "T" and "C" buttons on the original tube-type "Town and Country" radio. The radio still works. All rubber components on the front suspension were replaced as were the tie rod ends, ball joints, wheel bearings, axle bearings, u-joints and rubber bushings in the rear leaf springs. All brake lines were replaced along with the master cylinder and wheel cylinders. The fuel line and fuel pump were replaced. It has five www BF Goodrich Silvertown tires. Much of the wiring was replaced and the generator and starter were rebuilt. The radiator was dismantled and rebuilt. The engine was rebuilt with new pistons, new cam shaft and lifters, new rocker arm shafts and rocker arms and new oil pump. It has the original Holly carb and oil bath air cleaner. The original double action fuel/vacuum pump is installed but is bypassed with an electric fuel pump for easier starting. The vacuum wipers work. The left bank exhaust header is cracked.....SEE PHOTO. All gauges and instrument lights and idiot lights work. The heater and blower work. The sun visors are padded vinyl to match the original padded dash from the factory ...which was removed and not replaced. It has original factory seat belt anchor points with newer seat belts. New headliner and carpet. All door seals and window seals and window "cat whiskers" were replaced. All glass is good EXCEPT the driver side roll-up window which is cracked. The floor was in good condition...no rust or holes. The paint is two part PPG paint and is in decent condition. The bumpers and bumper guards were re-chromed. It has new through-the-bumper chrome tips on the tail pipes. It has the AIR COOLED Fordomatic transmission which has a bad fluid leak which I believe is coming from the torque converter. I think maybe the big 10 inch "O" ring on the converter is leaking. Therefore, this car should be hauled home on a trailer and NOT driven till the tranny is repaired. The transmission itself works fine. As I said the engine was rebuilt BUT it blows blue smoke. The car may be inspected any time...email me for directions. If you want more pics let me know and I will send them to you.. For the winning bidder, the car will NOT be moved till a cashiers check has cleared and the money is in my account.. If paying with cash, we will meet at my bank. Car sold "AS IS , WHERE IS". Thanks On Sep-17-12 at 07:24:58 PDT, seller added the following information: Revision.......In my description I should have said "some" of the wiring was replaced...NOT "much" was replaced as most of it didn't need replacing. Thanks On Sep-18-12 at 09:53:10 PDT, seller added the following information: Clarification.......while the paint colors of this car are the "CORRECT" FORD colors of Meadow Mist Green and Colonial White as applied to 1956 Fords, this particular car came from the factory NOT as a two-tone paint scheme BUT in a single color of green. SORRY! On Sep-20-12 at 09:37:51 PDT, seller added the following information: In my description, I was describing the floor of the passenger area saying there were no holes or rust. The floor of the passenger area is absolutely original and solid but there are two small patches in each corner of the trunk area app. 2" by 8". My apologies. The ODOMETER of this car reads 22,414 miles (see photo) but it is assumed that this would be 122,414 since the engine needed rebuilding. I have no way of knowing the actual mileage.
